History and Background

HomeTeamNS is a non-profit organization that celebrates the efforts and contributions of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSMen).

One of the organization’s main goals is to provide a shared environment where the NSMen can congregate and bond with each other through sports and social activities. That’s why they decided to create several smart clubhouses throughout Singapore.

Aside from the one at Khatib, you can find HomeTeamNS clubhouses in Balestier, Bukit Batok, and Bedok Reservoir.

How to Get There

Car: Since HomeTeamNS Khatib is far from the city center, the best way to reach it is by driving. There’s a parking lot available, and the rates are usually around S$2–4 per entry (non-members) or S$2–3 (members).

MRT: If you prefer the public transportation, you can ride the MRT. The closest station is Khatib, and you have to take Exit B and walk for about 10 minutes before reaching your destination.

Bus: For people who prefer the bus, ride bus services 851, 852, 853M, 857, or 969, and alight at bus stops 59031 or 59041. These are the closest bus stops to the clubhouse.

Fees and Membership

Since HomeTeamNS is a clubhouse intended for NSMen, it offers different kinds of memberships that are only meant for NSMen and their families and friends. These memberships are as follows:

Although only NSMen and their loved ones are allowed to become members, the clubhouse’s facilities are open to everyone. So, you can still come and use these facilities; just keep in mind that you’ll have to pay a fee when accessing any of them.

Best Time to Visit

If you’re planning to visit HomeTeamNS Khatib soon, try to come as soon as the clubhouse opens or in the evening. This is because most of the facilities aren’t crowded in the morning or evening, allowing you to have fun in peace.

Additionally, if you want to go for a swim in the pool, you might find the afternoon weather to be too hot. At least, in the morning (preferably around 7–9 am) or evening, you won’t have to deal with the oppressive heat.

I also recommend coming to HomeTeamNS during the weekdays because these aren’t peak days for the clubhouse.

You don’t have to be outdoors to experience the outdoors; that’s what Adventure HQ promises, and wow, do they deliver! This four-story, 2,800-square-meter hub is filled to the brim with all sorts of thrilling features.

For example, you can test your endurance and strength with Sky Venture, a two-tiered Challenge Ropes Course, or determine how high you can go without getting scared with Climbing Haven.

There are also firemen slides, which are very fun to use, and many other exciting activities!

If you have children aged 12 years old or below, you should drop them off in T-Play Indoor Playground. This indoor playground is the only one in Singapore that’s Peranakan-themed, and it has several fun, interactive sections.

There are creative tunnels for them to crawl and explore and a mini-trampoline to get the highest jumps and leaps. Another key highlight is the spiral slides, and children love sliding down on them while screaming in glee.

Are you a big fan of shooter video games or laser tag? Then you don’t want to miss out on TactSim! It’s an indoor Player vs. Player (PvP) airsoft in Singapore, which means you can test your “shooting” skills by taking down an “enemy” (it’s really just your friend).

TactSim really goes all out in creating a realistic scenario. The PvP arenas are decked out with gray walls and floors, giving off a moody vibe, and the airsoft guns are made to look like real ones; you’ll really feel immersed when playing!

Only people aged 18 years and above are allowed to play here, and you have to wear long-sleeve shirts, long pants, and covered shoes.

For people who love to work out, Fitness Workz Premium is a godsend. This gym is furnished with state-of-the-art equipment, and it’s also big enough so that everyone has room to move around and do a full-body workout without inconveniencing anybody.

You can also take fitness classes in-house or hire a personal trainer if you need assistance. After your workout, you can head to the shower to get refreshed.

Do take note that this facility is only open for HomeTeamNS members. Non-members don’t have access to this gym.

The menu here is pretty extensive: there’s a separate grand menu and lunch menu. If you don’t know what to pick, I recommend starting with the chef’s salad and a platter of chicken wings; for the main course, you can’t go wrong with the pesto Genovese pasta.

I also recommend getting any of the pizzas, especially if you’re with a group. My personal go-to is Bismark, which has bacon, spinach, mixed cheese, and a poached egg as toppings; every slice is rich and savory!

You have seven soup bases and over 40 ingredients to choose from, so you’re free to mix and try various combinations. Personally, I love the Singapore lemak laksa soup base, then I add Wagyu beef, salmon, and chicken strips to the pot.

If you love spicy things, then you might want to add any of the hot pot sauces. The fried chili oil is the go-to, but the tangy seafood sauce is also a great choice.

Seafood lovers, don’t miss out on Orchid Live Seafood at Khatib HomeTeamNS. This seafood restaurant has all the classic dishes, so your cravings will be satisfied in no time.

Some of the must-try dishes are the live mud crabs, live Dungeness crabs, and live Alaskan king crabs. These crabs are pretty big, making them perfect for sharing, and they’re also prepared in different methods (I personally like the chili version).

This restaurant also has other meat options. The braised duck with sea cucumber and chestnut, in particular, is tender and decadent, and the sweet and sour chicken is tangy and addictive.
