What Are the Common Causes of Back Pain?

Experiencing back pain is quite common, but it doesn’t mean you should just grin, bear, and live with it!

That’s why today’s post aims to serve as a guide on the most common causes of back pain. We also researched and mentioned what can be done to treat them.

Straining or injuring a muscle is one of the most common causes of back pain. You could get it from doing a lot of heavy lifting either at the gym or at home. 

Depending on the severity of your muscle strain, you could hold a warm compress or an ice pack over the area until the pain subsides. Pay extra attention to whether the pain becomes mere spasms after a few minutes or if it turns into a burning or stabbing sensation.

Before it becomes worse, it’s better to see a reliable sports doctor in Singapore. They’re better equipped at giving advice on medication or if you should see a chiropractor to help manage the pain.

Ever experienced an achy back after sitting for hours in front of the computer or television? Or did you just get up in the morning and your back started feeling stiff?

It could be as simple as having a bad posture or an awkward sleeping/sitting position. This is easy enough to remedy with a few tools and lots of discipline. 

You can get a therapeutic massage to get the pain kneaded and rubbed away by expert hands. Or maybe it’s high time to get a firmer mattress that’s suitable for your favoured sleeping position.

But if you think it’s working from home that’s exacerbating your back pain, perhaps it’s time to consider if an ergonomic chair is worth it.

Both health professionals and home economics educators are part of the training programmes on using a balanced diet to prevent chronic diseases like this.

You can also consider taking a multivitamin every day that has calcium as an ingredient. Add more green leafy vegetables, tofu, yoghurt, milk, and cheese to your meals, as well.

Spinal osteoarthritis happens when the cartilage between the spinal bones becomes worn out, usually with age. It’s typically accompanied by a dull or throbbing pain, popping sensations, or a noticeable lessening of movement.

It’s best to get a proper health screening to determine if you do have arthritis. You can then be referred to an orthopaedic specialist for recommended treatments.

The good news is that you can keep arthritis at bay by doing light exercises with emphasis on stretching the spine. Attending some yoga classes a few days a week can do wonders for your spine health.
