Your Guide to the Cage, Where Singaporeans Play Hard
If you’ve ever booked a 10 PM futsal slot just to beat the heat, you’ll likely already know that The Cage is where serious play meets zero weather excuses. Kallang or Dempsey—both serve turf, lights, and that sweaty post-match satisfaction.
It’s painfully easy to go from group chat to kickoff at The Cage, whether you prefer pay-for-play bookings or corporate takeovers. Read on for locations, prices, and smart tips I wish someone had told me sooner.
What is The Cage?
The Cage is Singapore’s OG futsal haven; rain or shine, the game goes on. It’s built for players who mean business, thanks to its top-notch indoor pitches and cricket nets.
It first opened in 2006, and now has two hubs—Kallang and Dempsey—that serve everything from casual kickabouts to competitive cricket drills. I like going there for clean showers, quality turf, late-night slots, and zero fuss.

What to See and Do
Play 5-a-side football matches
– Media from thecage_sg
At Kallang, my pals and I booked a 5-a-side slot and played like it was the World Cup. The turf was smooth, well-lit, and ventilated enough to wick our sweat away. Even with random drizzle, the covered pitch kept our game going like clockwork.
Over at Dempsey, it felt more like a football getaway, with its lush surroundings, fresh air, and just enough space to pretend like we’re pros. The grassless pitch may be open-air, but the vibes are 100% premium (especially when a rainbow appears!).
Pro-tip: Arrive at least 15 minutes earlier to stretch before the game. Tight hamstrings and fast turf don’t mix!
Have casual indoor cricket sessions
– Media from thecage_sg
At The Cage Kallang, we simply booked a net, cranked the bowling machine, and let the banter fly as fast as the balls. There was no sunburn nor wind involved; just pure, focused cricket under a roof.
I find it ideal for midweek de-stress swings or for teaching that one friend who thinks every bat is a baseball bat. As a bonus, you don’t need a full squad; just a few pals and an hour to spare.
Pro-tip: Book the bowling machine. It helps level up casual games into a legit practice session.
Improve your swing in the batting cages
– Media from thecage_sg
We tried the batting cages at The Cage Dempsey “just for fun” but left wondering why our arms felt like we’d wrestled a tree. Once that pitching machine starts, it doesn’t care if you’re ready!
It’s great for baseball or softball newbies who want to test their swing speed and ego in equal measure. You’ll whiff, laugh, then eventually land that one clean hit that will make you feel unstoppable.
Pro-tip: Start with slow pitching. Your ego and wrists will thank you!
Experience bubble soccer

My brothers and I tried bubble soccer at The Cage Kallang and spent more time bouncing than scoring. We were basically in a human pinball, with laughter and bruises.
I thought I was in control until I was upside down and rolling everywhere like a stray meatball! It’s an awesome activity for birthdays, team bonding, or just settling grudges in inflatable, bouncy suits.
Pro-tip: Wear snug shoes! Bouncing out of both your bubble and your sneakers isn’t a good look.
Join laser tag battles

For my nephew’s birthday, we played laser tag at The Cage Kallang and immediately learned that hiding behind cones isn’t as effective as it looks in movies. Imagine, I got tagged by a 10-year-old with sniper instincts and zero mercy!
It’s sweaty, fast-paced fun that feels like cardio disguised as combat. Bring your squad, pick sides, and prepare to dramatically fake your death for the kiddos’ amusement.
Pro-tip: Don’t be a glowing target in neon. Dark clothes help.
Enrol your kids in sports programs

I signed my youngest son up for VivoKids at The Cage Kallang, and now he outruns me at every park. The coaches sneak in discipline and teamwork under the disguise of pure fun, and it works.
It’s structured chaos with cones, balls, and endless laughter. Good way to burn energy while building sporty confidence early, I reckon.
Pro-tip: Pack an extra shirt if you don’t want the kids to end up drenched in sweat (and smelly).
Hold birthday or corporate events
– Media from michele_in_sg
I attended a colleague’s kid’s birthday bash at The Cage Dempsey, and we somehow turned a kids’ party into a full-blown adult futsal tournament! Even the parents joined in after the cake, which was the best cardio we’ve had all year.
For our company event at Kallang, bubble soccer settled office rivalries better than any HR workshop. There’s nothing like bouncing off your boss to break the ice!
Pro-tip: Book early for bundled activities for maximum fun.
Go on late-night sports sessions
– Media from sgreds2019
After a particularly gruelling work week, my work pals and I booked a 1 AM slot at The Cage Kallang and played like night owls with unfinished business. There was no sun and no crowd, just the sound of kicks echoing in the dark.
It’s an ideal setup for insomniacs, shift workers, or anyone with post-supper energy to burn. Late-night futsal hits different when the city is asleep and your team is wide awake.
Pro-tip: The vending machines will likely be emptied by night, so bring your own water and snacks.
Pre-order a bento meal
– Media from thecage_sg
Since I’m not a big fan of vending machine snacks and beverages, I was really happy to pre-order a bento at The Cage Kallang. It made me feel like a champ even before our match started.
There are local dishes like nasi lemak, laksa, and chicken rice, as well as Western options, including fish and chips or grilled chicken with mashed potatoes. Just book ahead, as these bentos don’t wait for indecisive teammates.
Pro-tip: Email your request for bento pre-booking at [email protected], including the number of meals and dietary preferences, at least 3 days in advance.
