Recommended dish: Chiavari pasta in Genovese pesto
Forma’s handmade pasta captures the essence of Italian tradition. We find ourselves eating mindfully here to truly appreciate the skill and passion of the pasta makers.
This is highly evident in our fave dish, the Chiavari pasta, with its medallion-shaped pasta embossed with wooden stamps. The coin-shaped corzetti (pasta discs) is tossed with pesto alla Genovese, potatoes, and green beans.
For something more familiar and simpler, try the busiate con pesto alla Trapanese (Sicilian pasta) for a rich blend of tomato, basil, and subtle almond flavours.
Pro-tip: Best to pre-book due to Forma’s extensive waitlist.

If you crave fresh, handmade pasta with imaginative flavours, Tipo Pasta Bar is perfect for you. This halal-certified restaurant presents a unique concept with various raw pasta, sauces, and topping options to build a customised pasta dish.
But if you want to play it safe, we recommend its classic carbonara featuring a creamy sauce with egg yolks, Grana Padano (Northern Italy cheese), smoked duck, and sous vide egg.
Pro-tip: Try the special cold brew tea, which serves as a refreshing palate cleanser.

Recommended dish: Linguine al cartoccio (pasta cooked in parchment paper)
Cacio e Pepe is a cosy Italian restaurant offering a variety of pasta dishes beyond its namesake. From creamy sauces to lighter options, its menu caters to all preferences.
For a change from heavy sauces, we tried the linguine al cartoccio to satisfy our seafood craving. It featured crayfish, mussels, clams, calamari, prawns, and homemade marinara sauce, delivering rich flavours of the sea.
Pro-tip: Its coffee bar is always open for a cup of brew or a dessert.

Recommended dish: Homemade pici (hand-rolled) pasta with bacon, peas, and cream of Grana Padano cheese
Etna Italian Restaurant offers contemporary Italian cuisine with a Sicilian twist. We’re happy to note that the daily specials are showcased on a chalkboard above the open kitchen.
There’s a homemade feel and taste to the pasta dishes here. Every bite, especially the pici pasta, is perfectly al dente.
And the penne alla Norma is a simple and elegant vegetarian option featuring eggplant, tomato, and parmesan cheese that’s quite tasty.
Pro-tip: Access the menu by scanning the QR code on each table or visiting the website.

At Pastaria Abate, you can enjoy freshly made pasta from a wide selection of ten types, including tagliatelle and squid ink. You’re allowed to customise your dish by choosing your preferred pasta base followed by a choice of three sauces: red, cream, or white.
We went for a classic: the marinara which had generous portions. We got the tagliarini (long flat egg pasta) and enjoyed the restaurant’s skill with the classic sauce, made with renowned, sweet San Marzano tomatoes.
Pro-tip: There’s competitive pricing with self-service ordering at the counter free from service charge or GST.

Recommended dish: Ravioli di burrata e tartufo nero (ravioli with burrata and black truffle)
Pasta Fresca offers a rustic, homely ambience, reminiscent of an Italian friend’s house. We learned that it’s one of Singapore’s first restaurants to offer handmade pasta, so we had to go check it out.
We ordered several dishes, but one that stood out was the generously portioned homemade ravioli with burrata cheese and black truffle stuffing. It came with creamy porcini mushroom sauce topped with Parma ham and truffle caviar—a sinful delight!
Pro-tip: Pasta Fresca is known for top-quality burrata, as it imports and distributes products to maintain freshness across multiple outlets.

Recommended dish: Fonduta ravioli
Osteria Mozza, owned by Chef Nancy Silverton, stands out as one of the rare Italian restaurants in Southern California with a Michelin Star. We were glad that it opened on Orchard Road with its chic contemporary interior and seating for over a hundred guests.
We ordered the fonduta (creamy cheese sauce) ravioli and realised we could share the dish between two people. It’s topped with melted butter and has a rich, cheesy flavour, tempered by a 25-year-old traditional balsamic vinegar from Modena.
Pro-tip: Don’t be overwhelmed by the restaurant’s seating capacity, as there are cosy dining pockets all over for intimate meals.

Recommended dish: Vegetarian fettucine
Since 2010, Pasta Bella has offered authentic Italian cuisine with minimal alterations for local tastes. We’ve always enjoyed its tagliatelle alla Bolognese, featuring homemade pasta with a rich beef ragu gravy.
However, since we’re trying to eat “healthier,” we also tried a vegetarian option. The fettuccine with roasted capsicum, cherry tomatoes, saffron cream, and pecorino cheese is filling without being cloying and is enticing with its colourful presentation.
Pro-tip: For dessert, we suggest trying the apple crumble, perfectly paired with a fresh cup of coffee.

Recommended dish: Truffle and scallop chilled capellini (angel hair pasta)
At Da Luca, classic pasta favourites like lasagne Bolognese, squid ink linguine, and spaghetti vongole are always on the menu. But while you’re here, we recommend trying the uniquely refreshing chilled angel hair pasta for its amazing taste.
For extra indulgence, try the truffle-infused pasta topped with fresh uni and Hokkaido scallops. You can opt for lightly seared scallops if preferred.
Pro-tip: You can add extra toppings like caviar and shaved truffles, though they increase the price.

Publico Ristorante combines modern elegance with a cosy Italian trattoria vibe. It’s highlighted by a spacious outdoor dining area surrounded by lush greenery.
We were feeling peckish, so we ordered their best pasta dishes:
- Spaghetti Chitarra Carbonara
- Truffle Cacio e Pepe
- Linguine Vongole / Pappardelle Beef Ragu
- Linguine Vongole
They came with a savory topping for a decadent treat!

Recommended dish: Squid ink seafood pasta
Pasta Brava has done the impossible for weight-conscious pasta lovers—come up with a delicious keto pasta menu! We love our carbs like the next fatso, but we can’t resist bookmarking this option for when we feel like going carb-free.
But on the day we visited, we opted for Pasta Brava’s signature dish featuring squid ink pasta with a rich oceanic aroma. It was generously topped with crayfish, scallops, prawns, clams, and squid that we almost didn’t mind our blackened smiles.
Pro-tip: Don’t miss the bruschetta; it’s packed with punchy flavours and filled with tomatoes and generous garlic.

Recommended dish: Mentaiko (spicy fish roe) pasta
We’re firm (al dente!) believers that handmade pasta by experienced chefs elevates texture and taste even if it’s for fusion cuisine.
Pasta & Co. offers five handmade pasta options, including roasted capsicum paprika spaghetti, beetroot fusilli, pumpkin rigatoni, squid ink tagliatelle, and fusilli lunghi (corkscrew pasta).
Oh, but it’s the Japanese fusion creamy mentaiko pasta we went for. It’s a recent crowd-pleaser featuring pan-seared scallops, shredded nori (seaweed), and wasabi tobiko (roe eggs) for extra flavour!
Pro-tip: The restaurant offers pasta alla vodka, but don’t worry about getting drunk on it!
