To add flavour to its bread, PAUL uses soft winter wheat like Camp Remy, a traditional French ingredient. The result is a heady variety of delectable desserts such as its signature millefeuille (Napoleon pastry) and pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant).
Pro-tip: Do try the creme brulee, but share it, as it’s too indulgent for one person.
Le Matin Patisserie

Out of the dizzying array of options, the standout for us was the fromage de vos reves (“cheese of your dreams”), a dessert featuring French cheeses Comté AOC, reblochon, and brillat Savarin.
Pro-tip: Be ready to spend, as Matin Patisserie has higher prices than most, but the quality speaks for its price tags.
Mother Dough

Having heard only good things about the croissants here, it was still a pleasant surprise trying out its almond croissant with its generous almond flakes topping and marzipan filling. Its flaky texture is spot-on, and the marzipan filling is deliciously balanced.
Pro-tip: The term “mother dough” refers to the fermentation starter used in bread making.

Pro-tip: Toast your takeaway bread before eating, and immediately wrap the bread in a slightly damp cloth or paper towel for a few seconds. It will remain soft and airy.
Carpenter & Cook

At Carpenter & Cook, pastries and cakes are the highlights, all baked in-house by the chefs. The cafe also features charming vintage European furniture for a cosy, laid-back vibe.
We tried the salted chocolate tart which had a perfectly balanced sweetness despite its initial richness. The yuzu (East Asian citrus fruit) matcha tart is also delightfully refreshing with generous matcha flavours.

Tigerlily Patisserie

Its pastries are both gorgeous and delicious. Our faves at Tigerlily are its savoury pastries like its parmesan tarts. Other must-try traditional baked goods include sourdough loaves and almond croissants.
Pro-tip: There are seasonal flavours such as pineapple coconut Danish and pork belly for Chinese New Year.

For savoury indulgence, the croissants and sandwiches filled with pastrami or smoked salmon are must-tries. We highly recommend its nine-layer sandwich bursting with Mortadella, chorizo, ham, pickled vegetables, and assorted cheese!
Pro-tip: There’s limited dining space, but food is easy to take away to enjoy upstairs in your Marina Bay room.
