Thrifty Treat: The Most Affordable Steaks in Singapore

Despite Singapore’s lack of agricultural resources, we’re happy to report that we’re also a meat-lovers haven! We import top-notch steaks from countries like Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.

And you won’t have to worry about burning a hole in your pocket, as this guide can show you the best and most affordable steaks to try in Singapore.

This Bukit Timah Road gem caters to meat lovers with its cosy ambience and expertly cooked steaks. There’s something for every meat-loving palate on its extensive menu.

Some of the cuts we sampled at Meat N’ Chill were the flat iron, ribeye, and New York strip, which were all flame-grilled to perfection. The kids we had with us also enjoyed the mushroom Swiss Wagyu burger.

Pro-tip: There’s a steak buffet available during lunch and on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for dinner!

At Feather Blade, we found that we can enjoy the lesser-known “flat iron” shoulder cut for just S$22 for 200 grams! You can also try the 200-gram feather blade steak for a lean, moist delight with smoked salt.

The steakhouse is renowned for its alternative cuts, particularly the feather blade which offers us semi-broke meat lovers a tender and budget-friendly option.

Pro-tip: For an additional S$2.50, you can enhance the steak’s flavour with housemade sauces like Sichuan peppercorn.

For quality, variety, and affordability, we still find Steakville at Sunshine Plaza to be a must-try in our list of budget-friendly steaks. The restaurant offers top-quality beef sourced from the best international farms in Japan, Australia, and the US.

The Hunter’s ribeye steak costs less than S$30 but already comes with a house salad and homemade condiments, but if you’re feeling extra-indulgent, try the luxurious Japan’s Finest Wagyu with its awesome marbling.

Pro-tip: Steakville also offers limited portions of seasonal cuts, such as butter-aged beef and dry-aged USA prime black Angus ribeye.

MediumRare in Tampines offers excellent steaks at an attractive price point below S$30. It’s a departure from Saveur’s formal French dining, offering a casual steakhouse experience instead.

Some of its affordable options include a S$16++ lunch set with 200 grams of striploin or ribeye steak. There’s also the Australian flat iron, Argentinian striploin, and New Zealand ribeye at just S$24 each.

Pro-tip: Each steak already includes mesclun salad, a side dish, and a housemade sauce.

Picanhas, a halal steakhouse, specialises in the unique Brazilian rump cap, picanha. The main menu features two steak mains: the Brazilian and Japanese-inspired Picanha Don (S$20) and the Queen of Steak (S$24).

Each steak is dry-brined, slow-cooked, and finished with binchotan (Japanese oak charcoal) butter for richness and succulence. They can be paired with house sauces like chimichurri, wasabi cream, and Szechuan for around S$2 each.

Pro-tip: Don’t expect dazzling plating, as the Queen of Steak is served on a flat griddle to showcase its simplicity and bold flavour.

Fat Belly is a frills-free steakhouse specialising in lesser-known beef cuts. We highly suggest ordering the Nippon grain-fed Angus flat iron (S$28), which is served austerely with roasted garlic bulb and flaked sea salt.

We found both the pork rib cap and Wagyu delicious, but the pork rib cap stood out with its juicy, tender, and flavourful taste. Cooked to perfection, it’s likely the result of having them grilled simply over charcoal.

Pro-tip: You can request the chef for more char in your steak if that’s your preference.

Got around S$20 in your wallet? We suggest spending it wisely at UNO Beef House, a renowned spot for affordable steak in Singapore.

A must-try dish here is the black pepper ribeye steak. It features a simple yet distinctive beef jus sauce with a hint of black pepper to let the steak’s flavours shine. If you’re craving more, other cuts like tenderloin are available for around S$20.

Pro-tip: While there, try the unique cheesy, crispy potato croquette as a delightful side.

Armoury is a laid-back steakhouse with a focus on meat and a fun craft beer selection rather than fancy wines. For an affordable Wagyu steak, we highly recommend the 220-gram Wagyu striploin for just S$22.

Also, try the Wagyu ribeye for a hearty lunch. And on weekends, you can also request breakfast sides like fried eggs and tater tots!

Pro-tip: The steak buffet is available daily except Mondays at South Beach.

The chic interior of Wildfire Burgers features dim lighting, high tables, and a bar counter where drinks are served. Renowned for burgers, the restaurant also offers spectacular steak cooked over binchotan-charcoal-fired INKA grill for flavour and texture.

Yes, it only has one steak option but it’s a must-try. The steak costs just around S$22 and is a 150-gram Argentinian grain-fed Angus striploin that goes well with a side of truffle fries.

Pro-tip: Also try pairing your steak with chicken fries or Cajun fries for just S$7 each.

iSTEAKS, renowned for its reasonably priced steaks, started as a humble hawker stall and has now expanded to multiple steak diner outlets.

We like that it offers special sets like the Uruguay sirloin set, with the steak perfectly cooked to medium doneness. The set already includes a beer and a starter of butter-herbed escargot, which is perfect for an after-work treat.

Pro-tip: Another solid and affordable option is the 200 grams of NZ Striploin for just S$22.50!

The Carving Board

Website

The Carving Board, located in Jurong East, got our attention with its reputation for affordable Western cuisine.

The Australian grain-fed ribeye steak, priced at S$26 for a 250-gram slab, is a popular choice so we went for it. It was juicy and flavourful and grilled just right at medium rare.

There’s a black pepper sauce that goes with it, but we found that just a pinch of salt already elevates the taste.

Pro-tip: For added carbs, we recommend the creamy mushroom risotto.

Hamburg Steak Keisuke

Honestly, what’s better than an affordable steak? An affordable steak with a sprawling buffet, including unlimited eggs, which are available in spades at Hamburg Steak Keisuke—that’s what!

Take advantage of this spot if you’re a meat lover with a big appetite; it offers great value. The burger steak is juicy and pairs perfectly with cheese.

We recommend the prime beef hamburg steak set and the triple cheese prime hamburg steak set if you’re feeling extra peckish.

Pro-tip: Expect queues. Weekdays before 6 PM are the best times to visit.
