A foodie takes on the delicious challenge of finding the best foods in Marine Parade!
Bordering Singapore’s Central and East Regions, Marine Parade is a popular neighborhood. After all, you can find many great landmarks within its vicinity, such as East Coast Park and the Promenade.
Personally, another reason I love visiting it is its thriving food scene. So much so that I decided to dedicate a month or so to trying as many restaurants in the area as I could and make a list of my favorites. Check them out when you can!
Roland Restaurant
— From: rolandrestaurant
Address: 89 Marine Parade Central, #06-750
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11:30 am to 2:30 pm, 6 to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6564408205
Chili crab is one of Singapore’s greatest dishes, and one of the best places to order it is at Roland Restaurant. The chili crab here mixes sweet, peppery, and spicy flavors well, and the sauce is also delectably creamy.
Aside from that, I recommend trying the mango chicken, which tastes sweet and refreshing, and the roast duck, which is so succulent. Of course, don’t forget to order the signature fried rice because it pairs really well with any of the meaty dishes.
Pro Tips:
- Sometimes, this restaurant hosts special promotions like limited-time discounts.
- You can rent a private room here for any event. Even weddings are possible here.
Sanook Kitchen
— From: thatsoyummyy
Address: 80 Marine Parade Road #01-17 Parkway Parade
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6563464178
Sanook Kitchen fuses Thai and Japanese cuisines—two of my favorites—so it’s not a surprise that it’s now one of my go-to restaurants in Marine Parade.
I like to order the deep-fried tofu with Thai chili sauce and pair it with honey chicken rice. I love how harmonious the sweet, savory, and spicy flavors are!
Since I have the worst sweet tooth ever, I like getting dessert here as well. The Thai cendol is particularly refreshing and not too sweet.
Pro Tip:
- Book your reservation ahead of time.
Nyonyas and Gentlemen Restaurant
— From: nag.fusion
Address: 25 Marine Parade Rd, Level 4 Katong V
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—6:30 am to 9:30 pm
Contact Number: +6562414850
Craving Peranakan food? Then you should hit up Nyonyas and Gentlemen Restaurant (NAG, for short).
I recommend the Nyonya Laksa, especially if it’s raining outside. The savory broth has a nice kick of heat, and it’s packed with prawns, fish cakes, and bean sprouts, making it a hearty and comforting dish.
Another great dish is the classic Singapore chicken rice. It’s such a simple dish, but oh so delicious!
Pro Tip:
- Come here during lunchtime because there’s a buffet available.
The Social Outcast
— From: dsocialoutcast
Address: 89 E Coast Rd, #01-01
Operating Hours:
- Wednesday to Friday—6 to 10:30 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—1:30 to 10:30 pm
Contact Number: +6589238924
The Social Outcast offers a unique dining experience because there’s no menu. Instead, you leave the choices of dishes to be served to the chef, so you never know what to anticipate. Plus, you get to see the chef cooking the dish right in front of you!
I’ve come here a few times now, and though the restaurant specializes in grilled dishes, my favorite dish I tried here is the Korean ganjang-gejang, also known as marinated crab. They only use female blue crabs caught in Yeonpyeong Island.
I got to try both soy sauce and spicy flavors, and I prefer the soy sauce one because it has a lovely umami touch.
Pro Tip:
- Parking may be tricky, so I recommend using public transportation to get here instead. If you must drive, the nearest car parks are in i12 Katong, Katong Square, and Roxy Square.
Baba Chews
— From: babachews
Address: 86 E Coast Rd, Katong Square
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—6:30 am to 10:30 pm
Contact Number: +6567232025
Nestled between Marine Parade and Katong-Joo Chiat, Baba Chews is a modern Asian restaurant that’s bursting with charm and energy. It also serves dishes that are both authentic and innovative at the same time!
My absolute favorite here is the Dry Bak Kut Teh, which is made of wood-grilled pork ribs that taste both herby and sweet at the same time. Another standout dish is the Singapore chili crab risotto; I’m very obsessed with how rich and creamy the risotto is!
Pro Tips:
- This restaurant offers special promotions like discounts on holidays or limited-time dishes.
- You can book this restaurant for an event like a birthday or a gathering with loved ones.
Butter and Spice
— From: butterndspice
Address: 66 East Coast Road, #01-06 The Flow
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 10:45 pm
Contact Number: +6581869692
Butter and Spice is one of Singapore’s many excellent family-owned Indian restaurants. Plus, it also boasts a homey atmosphere that always puts me at ease.
I recommend getting the tandoori chicken; the meat is so tender and juicy, and the exterior is also slightly charred, giving it an additional flavor. Of course, you should try the butter chicken as well because it’s so decadent and nutty!
End your meal with gulab jamun. These balls of milk solids absorb all the sweetness from the rosewater syrup, so every bite is a delight!
Pro Tip:
- If you order from the website, you can enjoy a free dessert for self-pick-up (so long as the order’s total exceeds S$35). You can also enjoy free delivery for orders exceeding S$100.
The Mango Tree
— From: themangotree_indiancoastal
Address: 91 E Coast Rd, #01-00
Operating Hours: Wednesday to Monday—11:30 am to 2:30 pm, 6 to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6564401285
The Mango Tree is another popular Indian restaurant in Marine Parade that I really like. The food here is absolutely delicious, and the interior is lovely and cozy, perfect for dining with loved ones or hosting a special event.
One of my go-to orders here is the Chicken Chapora, which consists of tender boneless pieces that are simmered in a Kottayam masala gravy. The gravy packs quite a lot of heat, so I always pair the dish with lots of naan to dampen the spice a little bit.
Pro Tip:
- Planning an event? You can book this restaurant as a venue or hire them for catering.
FEAST ASIA
— From: feastasiasg and grandmercuresingaporeroxy
Address: 50 East Coast Road, Marine Parade Rd, Roxy Square
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—7 to 10:30 am, 12 to 2:30 pm, 6 to 9:30 pm
Contact Number: +6563405665
I’m quite fond of buffet restaurants, so of course, I immediately went to try FEAST ASIA when my friend recommended it to me. Now, this restaurant has gone on my list of go-to buffet spots!
I’m always in awe of the number of options here. I usually go for the sashimi and sushi and the raw seafood on ice (I can’t resist freshly shucked oysters). Then, for the main course, I treat myself to pineapple chicken and seafood paella.
Pro Tip:
- I recommend coming here on a weekday (Mondays to Thursdays) because the prices are cheaper then. Also, avoid coming here during holidays because the prices might increase.
Sin Hoi Sai Eating House
— From: sinhoisaieatinghouse
Address: 187 E Coast Rd
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—4 pm to 3 am
Contact Number: +6564406956
Sin Hoi Sai Eating House is undoubtedly one of the oldest restaurants in the neighborhood, so it has that old-school look and vibe that I quite like. The prices here are relatively cheap too, so it’s a great dining spot whenever I’m short on cash.
My favorite thing to order here is the red wine pork ribs. The meat is tender and falls off the bone, and I love how subtle the red wine flavor is. It tastes like barbecued meat with a hint of sweetness.
Pro Tip:
- There’s no free parking available here, so you’re better off using public transportation to get to this spot.
Q-WA Bar and Yakitori
— From: qwabar
Address: 39 E Coast Rd
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—5 pm to 12 am
- Saturday and Sunday—11:30 am to 2:30 pm, 5 pm to 12 am
Contact Number: +6563489938
Q-WA Bar and Yakitori isn’t really big and doesn’t have an extensive menu, but I still love stopping by here to unwind with friends. The space is cozy, and the dishes, though not very filling, are delicious and perfect as after-work snacks.
I always get several rounds of charcoal-grilled skewered meats and vegetables, then followed by grilled steak. I also love pairing my order with sake; there are many brands available here, so I always end up asking my server for recommendations instead.
Pro Tip:
- Since this restaurant is pretty small, it can get crowded really fast, especially during peak hours. That’s why I recommend coming here in the afternoon or early in the evening.
Khao Hom by Rung Mama
— From: khaohomsg
Address: 88 E Coast Rd, #01-05/06/07 Katong Square
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6583634154
You don’t have to go to Thailand to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine. When the craving hits you, go to Khao Hom by Rung Mama instead!
This Thai restaurant boasts an extensive menu. I usually choose something from the “Chef’s Recommendation” section because I’ve found that I really like the dishes there.
So far, my favorite dish to get is the fried chicken, which is smothered with sweet chili sauce. I also recommend the basil meat omelet with rice because it’s hearty and filling.
Pro Tip:
- This restaurant tends to get packed during dinner time (around 5 to 8 pm), so I recommend coming here earlier in the afternoon.
Yun Ga Traditional Korean Restaurant
— From: yungasingapore
Address: 30 E Coast Rd, #03-12 Katong V
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6564479279
Korean BBQ is one of my favorite things to do when hanging out with friends. Fortunately, Marine Parade has Yun Ga, so I know where to go for our next hangout.
As you can expect from a Korean BBQ, this place offers a wide variety of meats. My friends and I like to get the Wagyu beef, but sometimes, we switch things up by getting pork and chicken as well.
Side dishes like kimchi and steamed eggs are also aplenty here. As a result, you’ll truly be stuffed afterward!
Pro Tip:
- If you’re planning to dine in the evening, I recommend booking a spot beforehand (via phone) because it can get packed during that time.
Mel’s Place Restaurant and Bar
— From: melsplace.sg
Address: 2A Kuo Chuan Ave
Operating Hours:
- Sunday to Wednesday—4 pm to 12 am
- Thursday to Saturday—4 pm to 1 am
Contact Number: +6564403573
What I love about Mel’s Place Restaurant and Bar—aside from the food, of course—is its laid-back vibes. Because of this, it’s the ideal place for casual dining with friends or relaxing after a long day at work.
I usually order snacks, and my go-to choices are buffalo wings, popcorn chicken, and broiled oysters. If I want something more filling, I’ll go for the pasta dishes, especially the seafood aglio olio because it’s jam-packed with prawns, mussels, and scallops!
Pro Tips:
- This restaurant offers promotions every now and then. Some of the promotions you can expect include unlimited prosecco, discounted prices on certain drinks, and more.
- Celebrate your special event here. Aside from providing the venue, the restaurant staff will also tailor an event package just for you.

— From: tanyu_sg
Address: 80 Marine Parade Rd, #01-36 Parkway Parade
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11:30 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6565132264
TANYU is a popular restaurant chain back in Mainland China (it has about 300 outlets in 72 cities!), so I’m intrigued and overjoyed to learn that it’s now expanded to other countries, including Singapore.
This Chinese restaurant is perfect if you love fish and other types of seafood. So far, my ultimate recommendation is the grilled fish in mala. The meat absorbs the sweet-spicy flavors from the sauce!
Aside from the grilled fish, you should try the grilled oyster with minced garlic and baby lobster with fresh green pepper. I especially love the lobster because it tastes both sweet and refreshing.
Pro Tip:
- Become a TANYU member and enjoy fun perks like free appetizers and exclusive discounts.
Volare
— From: volare.sg

Operating Hours:
- Monday and Tuesday—3 to 11 pm
- Wednesday to Saturday—12 to 11 pm
- Sunday—11:30 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6563465813
Pasta and pizza just hit the right spot every time for me, and if you feel the same, then you might like Volare as well.
My favorite dish from this Italian restaurant changes depending on my mood, but the one I keep going back to is the Orecchiette pasta. The tomato sauce is simple yet tangy, and I love the spiciness that comes with the homemade pork sausage.
If you love pizza, you’ll be delighted to find many unique flavors here. I recommend Prosciutto because it’s topped with an 18-month prosciutto di Parma. This unique topping tastes sweet and salty at the same time, with rich, nutty undertones.
Pro Tip:
- Book this restaurant as a venue for your event.
Zaffron Kitchen East Coast
— From: zaffron_kitchen
Address: 137 E Coast Rd, #135

- Monday to Friday—11:30 am to 3 pm, 5 to 9:30 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—10:30 am to 10:30 pm

Boasting a chic cosmopolitan setting, Zaffron Kitchen is a trendy restaurant in Marine Parade. North Indian cuisine is the specialty here, so expect dishes with rich flavors and lots of heat!
Murg pudina tikka is my favorite dish so far. The diced chicken, which is baked inside the tandoor, tastes earthy and spicy because it’s marinated in chili, fennel seeds, and chaat masala. It also has notes of mint and nutty flavors.
If you love curries, you should order chicken Chettinad. It’s spicy with sweet undertones (thanks to the coconut).
