Endless Connection: Where to Find Free Wi-Fi in Singapore
Singapore boasts so many quality-of-life features that entice people to visit and even live here, and one of these features is Wi-Fi. In fact, of all the nations in Southeast Asia, Singapore has the fastest Internet speed—at 234.55 Mbps (download speed)!
As if that’s not impressive enough, the government has launched Wireless@SG, which is an initiative that offers free Wi-Fi connection in public places. So, you don’t have to worry about spending too much money on your mobile data when visiting Singapore.
To learn more about how and where to find free Wi-Fi in Singapore, read on.
The Basics of Wireless@SG
Wireless@SG has come a long way since its launch in December 2006. Back in the day, this service was tricky; getting connected to the Internet was a hassle because you needed a user ID and password.
Luckily, it’s now easier to connect Wireless@SG. If you have a working Singaporean number, you’ll receive an OTP that lets you connect instantly; or if you don’t have a number, you can simply download the Wireless@SG app.
If, for some reason, you can’t download the app, you can connect to the Wireless@SG network on your phone’s Wi-Fi settings and then make a user ID and password when a sign-in page pops up.

Changi Airport
Address: Airport Boulevard, Singapore
Contact Number: +6565956868

As one of the best airports in the world, Changi Airport is widely known for its world-class amenities.
I mean, there’s a multi-story slide, an indoor waterfall, a fancy mall, and more inside this airport. Is it a surprise that there’s free Wi-Fi as well?
That said, just keep in mind that your time with the free Wi-Fi is limited; you only have three hours. After the third hour, you have to install the iChangi app and use it to connect to the airport’s Wi-Fi.
Gardens by the Bay
Address: 18 Marina Gardens Dr, Singapore 018953
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—5 am to 2 am
Contact Number: +6564206848
Website
Gardens by Bay is widely known for being a botanical paradise, but it also has free Wi-Fi (GBTB-FreeWifi). So, you can post on social media or stream while exploring this park.
However, the Wi-Fi connection isn’t available in all areas of Gardens by the Bay. You need to be in the following sections to get free Internet access:
- Flower Dome
- Cloud Forest
- Supertree Grove
- Golden Garden
- Far East Organization Children’s Garden
- Floral Fantasy
Apple Orchard Road
If you ever find yourself wandering around Orchard Road, you might want to stop by the Apple Store here not just to check out the products but also to enjoy the free Wi-Fi.
On the store’s second floor, you can even find a sitting space and several charging ports, so if you’re low on battery, this is your chance to recharge.
Just make sure to bring your cable, though. If you didn’t bring any, you can always buy a new one in the store.
Marina Bay Sands
Address: 10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018956
Contact Number: +6566888868
Website
You don’t have to book a room at Marina Bay Sands just to enjoy free Wi-Fi. The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, the resort’s shopping mall, offers free Internet access (Sands Hotspot), and it’s incredibly fast!
Another place where you can enjoy free Wi-Fi is the Marina Bay Sands Boardwalk. The great thing about this specific location is that it faces the bay itself, so you can enjoy the view while scrolling through social media.
The view even gets better at night because the skyscrapers across the bay are all lit up. You’ll also be able to watch Spectra, a nightly show featuring lights and water fountains being synchronized to an orchestra soundtrack.
Singapore Museums
Singapore takes pride in its rich history, so naturally, there are many state-owned museums available here. To make things better, these museums also offer free Wi-Fi to guests, which is helpful if you want to do more research on certain artifacts.
Sometimes, there are even exhibits and artifacts with a QR code that brings you to a page with even more information. Having free Wi-Fi should make accessing these informational pages a breeze.
Here are some of the museums with free Wi-Fi:
Libraries
One of the main goals of public libraries is to provide a study place for students. That’s why they have all sorts of reading materials—from magazines to reference books—comfortable seating areas, and, of course, free Wi-Fi.
Fortunately, there are many public libraries in Singapore. Each library varies in theme and appearance, but all of them offer a relaxing atmosphere that’s perfect for students, professionals, and other casual visitors.
Here are some of the libraries with free Wi-Fi in Singapore.
MRT Stations
When it first launched, Wireless@SG was only available in 33 MRT stations. Luckily, that’s not the case anymore because there’s now free Wi-Fi access in all stations in Singapore.
However, keep in mind that free Wi-Fi is only available at the station itself. So, the moment you step inside the train, the signal will be cut off.
Still, you’re free to come to any station and stay there for as long as you want just to use the Internet connection. Doing so won’t be as comfortable as sitting in a library, but it’s still great to have this option.
Fast Food and Fast-Coffee Spots
Fast-food and coffee joints are likely to offer free Wi-Fi to their patrons, so if you need to connect to the Internet while enjoying good food, visit one. Examples include McDonald’s, Starbucks, Coffee Bean, KFC, Burger King, and Pizza Hut.
When you connect to the Wi-Fi in any of the aforementioned fast-food spots, you might be required to click through a log-in screen or register your email. If you’re lucky, you don’t have to do any of that; instead, you just have to click okay to their terms.
CapitaLand Malls
Many of the malls in Singapore are CapitaLand Malls, so there’s a strong likelihood that you’ll come across one during your visit. If you do, be sure to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi available there.
These are the CapitaLand Malls with free Wi-Fi:
- Bedok Mall
- Bugis Junction
- Bugis+
- Bukit Panjang Plaza
- Clarke Quay
- Funan
- IMM
- ION Orchard
- Jcube
- Jewel Changi Airport
- Junction 8
- Lot One Shopper’s Mall
- Plaza Singapura
- Raffles City Shopping Center
- SingPost Center
- Tampines Mall
- The Star Vista
- Westgate
To connect to the free Wi-Fi in any of these malls, you’ll be required to enter a password.
As of the time of writing, the password is freewifi (case-sensitive), but I recommend checking the malls’ websites before your visit just in case it’s been changed.
How to Find Free Wi-Fi in Singapore
There are still many other places that offer free Wi-Fi in Singapore; the ones mentioned in this article are only a few examples. So, if you’re wandering around the island, it’s likely that you’ve passed a hotspot and you just didn’t know.
One way to avoid this mistake is by downloading the WifiMap mobile app, which is available for both Android and Apple phones. This helpful app shows you places near you that offer free Wi-Fi.
