A Paradise Within: Top Attractions in Jewel Changi Airport
Everyone knows that Changi Airport is one of the best airports in the world. After all, there’s no other airport that houses an extensive retail complex like the Jewel Changi?
Many people think that Jewel Changi is like a mall inside Singapore Changi Airport, but it’s actually more than that. Aside from luxury shops and fancy restaurants, Jewel Changi houses several gardens, mini-attractions, and more.
If you’re planning to spend some time inside Changi Airport (maybe you have a layover or your flight is still hours away), you definitely won’t be bored here. Here are some of the best attractions in Jewel Changi for the ultimate fun!
The Best Attractions in Jewel Changi Airport
Rain Vortex
Location: Heart of Shiseido Forest Valley, near Terminals 2 and 3
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday—11 am to 10 pm
- Friday to Sunday (including public holidays)—10 am to 10 pm
I’m sure it goes without saying that the HSBC Rain Vortex is the main attraction of Jewel Changi Airport. It’s the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, and practically every photo of the airport features it.
No matter when you’re visiting the Rain Vortex, it’s always going to be a stunning sight. By day, the sunlight hits the water as it cascades down, lighting everything up, and by night, the waterfall becomes a beautiful light and sound show.
Forest Valley
Location: Levels 1–4, near Terminals 2 and 3
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
If you’re already planning to see the Rain Vortex, you might as well explore the entirety of Shiseido Forest Valley. This forest valley makes you feel like you’re in eternal spring—lush greenery is everywhere, and serenity is your companion.
My favorite part of the forest valley is the bamboo grove. The lush, leafy backdrop makes me forget I’m inside an airport; I feel like I’m whisked away to a fantasy land far away.
The best way to explore the forest valley is by following the walking trails. These trails will take you through the nooks and crannies of the valley and all the way up to Canopy Park—you get to exercise for a bit too!
Canopy Park
Location: Level 5, Terminal 1
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday—10 am to 10 pm
- Friday to Sunday, public holidays (including the eve before)—10 am to 11 pm
Price:
- Standard Rate—S$8
- Singaporean/permanent resident—S$6
- CapitaStar Members and Changi Rewards Members Special Rate—S$5.40
At the topmost level of Jewel Changi Airport is the Canopy Park, which is essentially a wonderland for children and adults alike. With a total area of 14,000 square meters, this park features beautiful floral arrangements and luscious foliage for you to check out.
To make things better, your ticket to Canopy Park also includes access to other nearby attractions: Discovery Slides, Foggy Bowls, Petal Garden, and Topiary Walk.
Discovery Slides
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday—10 am to 10 pm
- Friday to Sunday, public holidays (including the eve before)—10 am to 11 pm
At first glance, the Discovery Slides looks like a work of art that you can only admire from afar. But in reality, it also serves as a playground—just a pretty one at that.
If you want to play and slide here, just make sure to wear pants or shorts and comfortable covered shoes. Additionally, bringing your luggage or wheeled bags isn’t allowed here; be sure to leave them at the baggage storage.
Foggy Bowls
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday—10 am to 10 pm
- Friday to Sunday, public holidays (including the eve before)—10 am to 11 pm
As its name suggests, Foggy Bowls features bowls on the ground with puffs of gentle mist coming out of it. It’s a pretty simple playground where you can let your imagination run wild.
Kids, in particular, love running around the bowls and mist, but adults are welcome to join in the fun too. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes (preferably ones that are covered) for your convenience.
Petal Garden
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday—10 am to 10 pm
- Friday to Sunday, public holidays (including the eve before)—10 am to 11 pm
The Singapore Botanic Gardens and Gardens by the Bay aren’t the only attractions for people who love flowers. Jewel Changi has a Petal Garden, and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
The Petal Garden is home to creative displays of seasonal flowers—like the iconic cherry blossoms, orchids, and sunflowers—from countries all over the world. These flowers come in a wide variety—from subtle and delicate to vibrant and flamboyant.
Topiary Walk
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday—10 am to 10 pm
- Friday to Sunday, public holidays (including the eve before)—10 am to 11 pm
The Topiary Walk on Canopy Park boasts vibrant greenery and colorful topiaries of animals. My favorite is the elephant topiary perched on top of a rock in the middle of a pond; its pinkish-purple color is so striking!
Other highlights include the adorable life-sized birds and the colorful iguana. There are still so many topiaries to discover, and you can spend at least 30 minutes just roaming around the place.
Hedge Maze
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm
Price (includes admission to Canopy Park):
- Standard Rate—S$13.90 (adult), S$11.90 (child ages 3–12 years old)
- Singaporean/permanent resident—S$11.90 (adult), S$8.90 (child/student/senior citizen ages 60 years old and above)
Want to test your wits? Then you might enjoy navigating through the Hedge Maze in Jewel Changi.
The Hedge Maze is the largest one of its kind in Singapore, and with its twisting pathways, it’s actually tricky to reach its end. Personally, it took me an hour of wandering around—then again, I’ve never really had a good sense of direction.
The best part is that the ticket for the Hedge Maze actually includes admission to Canopy Park. So, you have access to even more fun!
Mirror Maze
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm
Price (includes admission to Canopy Park):
- Standard Rate—S$18.90 (adult), S$13.90 (child ages 3–12 years old)
- Singaporean/permanent resident—S$15.90 (adult), S$10.90 (child/student/senior citizen ages 60 years old and above)
- CapitaStar Members and Changi Rewards Members Special Rate—S$14.30 (adult), S$9.80 (child/student/senior)
If you can’t get enough of navigating through mazes, another one that might pique your interest is the Mirror Maze.
As you can gather from its name, this maze is made of various mirrors, creating a trippy and kaleidoscopic environment. To make things even trippier, there’s a cover of greenery overhead, so you’ll really get an illusion of endless bowers.
Navigating through this maze will take some time, not just because the illusion tricks you but also because you’ll be tempted to take photos at every turn.
Canopy Bridge
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm
Price (includes admission to Canopy Park):
- Standard Rate—S$13.90 (adult), S$11.90 (child ages 3–12 years old)
- Singaporean/permanent resident—S$11.90 (adult), S$8.90 (child/student/senior citizen ages 60 years old and above)
- CapitaStar Members and Changi Rewards Members Special Rate—S$10.70 (adult), S$8 (child/student/senior)
Nothing beats the view when you’re strolling on Canopy Bridge. Situated 23 meters above the ground, the bridge offers the best vantage point in Jewel Changi Airport—you get to see the lush greenery in all its glory!
To make things even more exciting, the bridge is made of glass, and at both ends, fog is emitted. All these features give off the illusion that you’re walking in the clouds!
Bouncing Net
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm
Price (includes admission to Canopy Park):
- Standard Rate—S$24.90 (adult), S$19.90 (child ages 3–12 years old)
- Singaporean/permanent resident—S$20.90 (adult), S$15.90 (child/student/senior citizen ages 60 years old and above)
- CapitaStar Members and Changi Rewards Members Special Rate—S$18.80 (adult), S$14.30 (child/student/senior)
Would you like to do something that gets your heart pumping? In that case, you might really love bouncing on the Bouncing Net.
This really makes me feel like I’m reaching for the sky. It’s even more fun with companions because we’ll try to outjump each other.
If you’re scared of heights, I suggest not looking down when jumping on the net. The highest point is eight meters above the ground!.
Walking Net
Location: Canopy Park, Terminal 1
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm
Price (includes admission to Canopy Park):
- Standard Rate—S$18.90 (adult), S$13.90 (child ages 3–12 years old)
- Singaporean/permanent resident—S$15.90 (adult), S$10.90 (child/student/senior citizen ages 60 years old and above)
- CapitaStar Members and Changi Rewards Members Special Rate—S$14.30 (adult), S$9.80 (child/student/senior)
Suspended 25 meters above the ground, the Walking Net makes you feel like you’re weightless and floating in the air. It’s also kind of tricky to keep your balance (I’ve fallen more times than I can count), but it’s still fun to walk from one end to another here.
Sometimes, when I’m not in the mood for physical activity, I just sit down on the net and enjoy the view below. Doing so is surprisingly relaxing!
Changi Experience Studio
Location: Level 4, Terminal 1
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—11 am to 8 pm
- Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays—10 am to 8 pm
Price:
- Standard Rate—S$25 (adult), S$17 (child/senior citizen)
- Singaporean/permanent resident—S$19.80 (adult), S$14.80 (child/senior/student)
- CapitaStar Members and Changi Rewards Members—S$18.80 (adult), S$13.80 (child/senior/student)
Changi Experience Studio is a digital attraction featuring a great variety of interactive games and immersive shows. So far, it has over 10 zones, each with its own theme, so there’s always something new to see in every visit.
My favorite parts include the Time Tunnel (which features photos and information about the history of Changi Airport), the Hanging Garden (a zone with overflowing potted plants and interactive tables), and the Amazing Runway (a racing zone).
If you want, you can also purchase add-ons to your Changi Experience Studio ticket. The Canopy Park bundle and the Flight Simulator add-on are two of the most popular choices.
