East Coast Park is Singapore’s prime picnic destination, perfect for fun outings with family and friends. With ample space for relaxation and luxurious picnics, you’ll rarely struggle to find a spot.

We think the best spot for an idyllic and quiet picnic would be in the area between F2 and F3 parks. You can watch planes or the clouds go by without being disturbed!

After your picnic, you can explore the nearby lush bougainvillaea garden for a bit of nature immersion.

Pro-tip: Public toilets, including shower facilities, are conveniently located at car park F2.

West Coast Park spans over 50 hectares of stunning natural beauty, making it ideal for family picnics and adventurous exploration. The waterfront provides a scenic sea view on one side and vibrant hibiscus bushes on the other.

If you fancy an extended night picnic, there are available camping sites within the park grounds, too. There’s a 24-hour McDonald’s near Area 3 in case you feel like a midnight snack of burgers and fries.

Pro-tip: Wildlife enthusiasts should visit in the mornings for optimal bird-watching opportunities (bring your trusty pair of binoculars!).

Sengkang Riverside Park

Located in the Northeast, Sengkang Riverside Park offers scenic views along Sungei Punggol, which is one of Sengkang’s major rivers. It’s an ideal spot for a quick nature getaway when the weather is mild.

The vast grasslands offer plenty of space for a relaxed picnic among unexpected wildlife like turtles, lovebirds, and occasional otters. But bring rugs or mats to sprawl out on the large fields, as the park lacks benches or gazebos.

Pro-tip: No picnic supplies? No problem! There’s a food hub onsite for meals and drinks.

Kallang Riverside Park

Located alongside the Kallang River with a stunning view of the Singapore National Stadium, this park offers both water and land sports. Popular activities here include dog walking, jogging, water sports, drone flying, and dragon boat racing.

Linked to the Kallang Wave Mall, it offers a convenient pathway for visitors. Ample grassy areas make finding a picnic spot easy, especially along the river.

Pro-tip: Seek shelter under the bridge, near the pavilion, or beneath lush trees for a cosy picnic experience.

Punggol Waterway Park

While camping isn’t allowed at Punggol Waterway Park, nighttime picnics offer a serene escape from the city centre’s hustle and bustle. It’s a well-planned park, a green oasis above the waterway, with ample space for walking, biking, and manicured walkways.

Enjoy a meal on a mat at Nature Cove Gardens by the waterfront, then take a walk along Sunrise Bridge or the Heritage Zone to digest.

Pro-tip: Consider activities like storytelling, stargazing, or even a mini outdoor movie night with a mini projector for added fun.

HortPark

To cleanse ourselves of a toxic workweek, we like immersing in the flora and fauna of the west at Jurong Lake Gardens. It’s Singapore’s largest nature wonderland in the heartlands, spanning 90 hectares.

It’s specially landscaped for families and community members to enjoy. Apart from picnics, it’s ideal for activities like reading, meditating, or simply enjoying picturesque views.

Pro-tip: Bring trash bags to dispose of waste properly and keep your picnic area clean.

Coney Island Park

Coney Island Park is an ecologically sustainable park. It uses fallen tree timber for signage, benches, and the mangrove boardwalk, preserving a rustic ambience with hidden beaches and wildlife.

For a refreshing sea breeze, visit the West Promenade of Coney Island. It provides clear views of the water, Pulau Ubin, and distant ships. Beach Area D or E further east provides even more privacy for picnics, sans pesky sand.

Pro-tip: Try not to bring plastic bags to the island. The sound of plastic attracts mischievous macaques!

Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Park offers a lovely escape with its rich history. Did you know that it was once home to Malay kings and the site of Singapore’s surrender to the Japanese?

Pack your mats and snacks and consider hiking the hills first to work up an appetite for your picnic. The park also regularly hosts fun musical performances so you can plan your picnic around your favourite bands or singers’ concerts.

Pro-tip: Consider using reusable or biodegradable tableware to minimise environmental impact.
