Guests can relish the culinary spectacle of chefs working the grill. We love its king prawns, and salmon that are cooked to perfection, alongside juicy Wagyu beef boasting exquisite marbling.

Shima Restaurant

The restaurant’s focal point is its open kitchen, offering prime counter seating for the best dining experience.
A must-try at this place is the smoked red snapper. We tried it and found its lean texture, subtly charred from smoking, with a lingering sweet and nutty flavour a delight!
Pro-tip: There’s a private room for larger groups and regular dining tables available.

Its menu includes a teppan course with options like Wagyu diced steak or a seafood platter. But the highlight for us is the 100-gram A4 Kuroge Wagyu sirloin steak in its S$180 Q course.
Pro-tip: Another must-try is the tender and juicy Iberico pork with house-made black pepper sauce.
Ki Teppan & Rogama

Yamagawa Japanese Restaurant has been around for over three decades. It offers an old-world ambience for those seeking to go back in time with a traditional tatami room for eight guests and a la carte, omakase, and teppanyaki dining.
Despite not performing showy tricks, the teppanyaki chef impresses with exceptional cooking skills. The menu includes options like the Yamagawa deluxe course with prime beef and king prawn, and the indulgent Wagyu & lobster course.
Pro-tip: There are also sushi, sashimi, udon, and tempura menu items if you want something aside from teppanyaki.

At Yaki Yaki Bo in HDB Heartland Mall at NEX, you can enjoy a straightforward teppanyaki experience without any fancy tricks.
Its most popular item is the chicken thigh steak ginger shoyu (soy sauce) with a plain rice set: miso soup, white rice, and oranges.
We tried it and found it satisfactory. The chicken is nicely browned and crispy on the outside, with moist meat and aromatic ginger shoyu.
Pro-tip: The included miso soup is a bit salty but still adjustable with some water.
Torio Japanese Restaurant

It’s helmed by Chef Jack who was mentored by Japanese chefs. He regularly updates the menu for freshness with lunch courses offering seafood or pork options.
We especially like the tender beef and delightful accompaniments like garlic chips. Make sure to savour the exquisite foie gras with pear for a melt-in-your-mouth experience.
Pro-tip: For a memorable dessert, don’t miss the grape ice cream with its surprisingly bold flavour.
