20 Best Daycare Centres in Singapore – Reviewed
A childcare or daycare centre has become a must, especially among working parents.
Not everyone can afford a full-time nanny or even a daily babysitter. So the practical solution is a daycare, which thankfully isn’t hard to come by.
We carefully picked reliable daycares for you, but first, what are the expenses involved?
Is daycare in Singapore costly?
Childcare services in Singapore have varying costs, with some being affordable and others verging on expensive (over S$2,000).
For daycare services, factors such as the centre’s location and type, the child’s age, if it’s SPARK-certified, whether it’s a half or full-day programme, and even the child’s nationality can all influence the costs.
There are also available government subsidies for childcare among parents who have eligible income tiers and status. You can try the subsidy calculator to check if you and your child qualify for it.
How We Picked
We hand-picked the daycare centres reviewed in today’s post using the following criteria:
1. E-Bridge Preschool

E-Bridge Preschool places special emphasis on early literacy and uses materials in English and Mandarin. It utilises the ITL (Inquire, Think, Learn) approach in math, science, and the creative arts.
There are two teachers for every 20 kids in Nursery 1 classes, which is a good ratio for focused learning. And we’re happy to see that it operates on Saturdays (though on shortened hours).
It’s got a great curriculum overview that addresses the mind, body, and even character development of all its students. But it doesn’t have a programme for special needs learners, and some branches hardly have vacant slots for new enrollees.
Pros
- Reasonable school fees
- Open on Saturdays
- Good teacher-to-child ratio
Cons
- No enrichment programmes
- Placement could be harder in some branch locations
Customer Reviews

Star Learners has a distinctive literature-based curriculum that uses immersive storytelling to learn everything from math to critical thinking. This allows the kids to see themselves in fictional characters and from various perspectives.
The daycare doesn’t encourage changing class levels for differently-paced learners, as it strives to keep every child continuously learning and developing with others. There’s also an enrichment programme on demand.
The childcare fees are quite reasonable and even a bit below national averages for partner operators. But if you aren’t a local, the fees are slightly higher (as expected).
Pros
- SPARK-certified centres
- Good range of main and enrichment programmes
- Unique literature-based curriculum
Cons
- Higher infant and childcare fees for PRs and foreigners
- Kids aren’t allowed to bring their own food

Parents get to have subsidies
“My First Skool is under NTUC First Campus, which means parents get to have subsidies when they enrol their kids into the centres. The facility’s located above the NTUC Fairprice in Toa Payoh Central, near to Entertainment Centre. Once you go in, the centre staff will sterilise your hands using sanitisers – a procedure which I think cannot be taken lightly.” – Christine L
My son loved the school and teachers so much
“My son was enrolled there at 3 years old, till now. He loved the school & the teachers so much that he will share with me what he does every day in school. I still remember I’ve been to 1 of the school (at Bishan too…) whereby all the kids looked so restless, and quiet. Unlike MFS Blk 245, I was greeted by the kids on my 1st visit there. They even chitchat & share their toys with me.” – “PuccaGal”

Right off the bat, we commend Cherie Hearts for offering emergency care services (subject to availability per centre). It’s rare for a daycare in Singapore to have this, so it’s great that parents are offered this option.
The daycare has a wide range of programmes from infant care to kindergarten. It also offers reasonable school fees despite being a premium childcare service provider.
It’s great that half and full-day programmes are offered here. However, it’s disappointing that it isn’t a SPARK-certified daycare centre yet.

- Emergency care services available
Cons
- No SPARK certification

Provides frequent and comprehensive updates
“We’d like to thank your team of educators. Teacher Mel has been taking care of Jacob since last year. Teacher Mel has been providing us with very frequent and comprehensive updates, which really helps us better understand my child’s needs both physical and emotional. Initially, we were quite worried about Jacob’s ability to write, as he wasn’t able to grip the pencil properly, and his writing was very light. Teacher Mel observed this issue, with her patient guidance throughout the year, Jacob is able to write firmly and develop a great interest in writing numbers and letters. Jacob is shy and has difficulties opening up himself, thus he does not express what he wants to Teachers. Teacher Mel has noticed this and has been giving extra effort to build up Jacob’s confidence level. Now Jacob speaks more fluently with a good number of vocabularies. Overall we are happy with Jacob’s development. And impressed with the level of professionalism in your team of educators. Thank you for your great work! Kudos!” – Logan Ting and Jade Wang, parents of Jacob Ting Ding Hao
Caring and supportive staff
“We are truly blessed to have our son attending Cherie Hearts Mountbatten. The caring and supportive staff helped Kai settle into playgroup routines. They take time to share feedback and stories about his experience each day and address any issues that need attention. It gives us comfort and confidence that our son is well taken care of. In three months now that he’s been attending, we can see social and interpersonal relationships and communication skills develop. He is now very excited to come to preschool every day. I thank the dedicated principal and teachers for the caring and nurturing environment they have been providing for our son.” – Kristine

School4Kidz Preschool makes a big first impression: it has a mega-campus which can rival those of secondary schools!
Under the Kinderland umbrella, School4Kidz also has SPARK-certified centres so you can be assured of a quality curriculum for your child. And its infant care services rely on a relationship-based programme for secure and confident little ones.

As a known premium daycare in Singapore, MindChamps’ school rates reflect this. It’s got one of the steepest fees in the country—but with good reason.
Its curriculum is borne from intensive research and development utilising child psychology, neuroscience, theatre, and education. And there’s a wide range of enrichment programmes offered here, too.
But even with available subsidies, MindChamps’ school fees might not be affordable for some parents. And it still isn’t SPARK-certified at the moment.

Cons
- School fees are pricier than most
- Fees are exclusive of GST

Because it’s an international school, you can expect Blue House International to have expensive school fees.
For starters, there’s already a non-refundable registration fee of S$1,402 per child. And the school fees per term for nursery kids amount to S$8,721, while kindergarten fees are up to S$8,946!
But its programmes, centres, and other amenities are top-notch. Many parents of toddlers and infants enrolled in the atelier classes gush over the light-filled, airy spaces where their little ones enjoy a half or full day of stimulating sensory experiences.
There’s also schedule and programme flexibility, so international students can enjoy different cultural celebrations throughout the year. We find this a thoughtful and considerate gesture from Blue House and appreciate it.
Pros

- Flexible school schedules and programmes
- Low teacher-child ratio
Cons
- Expensive school fees

We are really impressed with the beautiful light-filled atelier space
“We are really impressed with the beautiful light-filled atelier space filled with such interesting toys and creative activities to engage the babies and toddlers. The “pool noodle forest” is a great favourite with our little one! We also loved the different themes. Kudos to the team for coming up with different activities and innovative ways to use everyday materials.
Miss Shivanti is a brilliant facilitator and does a great job leading the sessions. The songs are lovely and familiar, we sing many of them at baby classes in the UK! We also enjoy the sessions with Miss Awenika and Xu Lao Shi, who are friendly and engaging.” – Redford family

“Heitaro attended the Infant & Toddler Atelier for a few months and formally joined Blue House in October 2018. During our school tour, it had just stopped raining and we saw beaming faces and cries of joy from children playing in the muddy sandpit. The scene stirred our souls, reminding us of what childhood is all about. We also liked the school’s philosophies; for instance, they don’t have a uniform because they believe clothing is an important means of self-expression. All spaces in the school are also beautifully decorated and full of warmth, with a welcoming and peaceful atmosphere. We knew that Heitaro would have a happy childhood here.” – Furukawa family

The curriculum put forth by the Sunflower Childcare Group is guided by the Multiple Intelligence Approach. Utilising these eight intelligences, the centre strives for every child to have a balanced development.
The learning programme involves a creative approach to math and science as well as dramatic and role-playing to improve communication and social skills. There’s also a Chinese programme on the Art of Language that’s been approved by MOE.
With dozens of centres across Singapore, it’s a bit of a letdown that only a handful are Partner Operators (with corresponding fees reflecting it). Sunflower also doesn’t have SPARK certification at the moment.
Pros
- Offers well-balanced programmes
- Open on Saturdays
- Uses the Multiple Intelligence Approach
Cons
- Only select centres have Partner Operator fees
- Not SPARK-certified

Pleasantly surprised with the array of activities
“After a poor experience at another preschool, I enrolled my child in K1 here and was pleasantly surprised with the array of activities and the caring and diligent teachers. Highly recommended!” – Tess Wong
Awesome school, awesome teachers
“The school is just so awesome! My son was traumatized at his first preschool and he would just scream his lungs out, and didn’t want to go to his school. But after I change to Sunflower preschool, my son was so scared to go to school but the principal and his teachers were so patient with him, and pacified him till he was looking forward to going to school! Now both my son and daughter are happy in Sunflower! Awesome school, with an awesome principal and awesome teachers! Kudos to them!” – Juliana Ismail

If you want your little one to be successfully bilingual starting at daycare, MapleBear might just fill the bill. Its methodology ensures that kids will learn both Mandarin and English from day one so they can communicate effectively in both languages later on.
MapleBear also utilises Canadian education practices. It firmly believes that bilingual education is more effective if it starts as early as possible.
As with the rest of the centres, it’s based on tried-and-tested childcare methods with an emphasis on developmentally appropriate tools. However, there are only selected centres offering Bear Care, the centre’s infant childcare programme.
Pros
- Uses an outcome-based curriculum
- Has a bilingual immersion programme
- Bear Care Programme uses infant-appropriate spaces, tools, and activities

The teachers make learning fun and interactive
“Our firstborn, Zayden, joined MapleBear when he was a 17-month-old infant and is now graduating from kindergarten!
His teachers’ encouragement, patience, mindfulness and care during his school years have had such a positive impact. We have witnessed his growth from a shy toddler, into a confident and expressive young man. The teachers make learning fun and interactive, which is why Zayden looks forward to going to school every day! We also appreciate the frequent updates and feedback on Zayden’s progress in school.
We can’t express our gratitude enough to the entire team at Maplebear Alexandra, and have already signed up Zayden’s siblings to join the school in future!” – Marco and Mavis Low
Very open to regularly sharing updates with us through the school app
“As a working mom, knowing that my child receives the best care & guidance at school is very important to me. We are very glad to have Kyan at MapleBear Highgate since he was 18 months old. He quickly adapted to the love and patience of his teachers and is always happy to go to school. It is a joy to watch him grow and learn. His teachers use various mediums to teach including science experiments, cooking, craftwork, music, singing and sports! We are very glad to see Kyan picking up Chinese confidently from his encouraging teachers. They’ve always been very open to regularly sharing updates with us through the school app, small chats at drop-off/pick-up, or whenever we need them. We love the school for its cosy yet all-encompassing compound including two outdoor play areas and a vegetable garden where children can learn outdoors in a safe environment. We look forward to Kyan completing his preschool years with MapleBear!” – Lina Neo

Brighton Montessori prepares young kids for formal schooling with a curriculum that utilises the five pillars of Montessori. It encourages practical life skills, uses sensorial exercises, and teaches language, math, and culture studies for enriched learning.
Because it was originally an enrichment centre in 1995, Brighton currently offers good enrichment programmes. There’s one on intensive Chinese immersion and another covering speech, drama, music, and cooking using creative lessons.
It’s just a bit disappointing that there are no infant care services under the Brighton umbrella. And it’s also not a SPARK-certified centre yet.
Pros
- Low teacher-to-child ratio
- Observes individualised learning pace
- Offers enrichment programmes
Cons
- Not SPARK-certified
- No infant care services

Has a good mix of locals and foreigners
“The preschool has a good mix of locals and foreigners, which we love. The kids take part in a variety of fun and interactive activities including cooking classes, which allow for the refinement of sensory perception, and the development of literacy and mathematical understanding. There are also many opportunities for imaginative exploration and creative self-expression.” – Mario and Ana Montanari
We appreciate the multi-age groupings to foster peer learning
“The preschool was the best choice for our children because of its educational philosophy. We appreciate the multi-age groupings to foster peer learning, the self-directed learning time and the focus on sensory-motor activities. Our girls’ experiences in Brighton Montessori have laid the foundation for them to be independent and eager lifelong learners! The teachers at Brighton make the school a welcoming, nurturing and fun environment – evident by the no-tears drop-offs!” – Margerie and Daniel Lynn

Patient to educate life skills that are useful for kids
“The teachers here are exceptionally caring and proactive in ensuring the best for my child. They were patient to educate life skills that will be useful for kids such as teaching conflict management skills and making friends with everyone. The last 2 years with little seeds (Ang Mo Kio) have been a lifesaver for me as I entrust my 3rd child and return to the workforce. The teachers I’ve connected with have been wonderful to ensure my youngest son (now K2 starlight) is well equipped and ready for primary school- from teacher Jiexin to Teacher Lifang, teacher Susie, teacher Yiling, as well as the chef aunty Florence and other staff have been so kind. The principals that I’ve been in contact with such as Teacher lian choon and teacher Dawn have always been kind and respectful too. Thank you for always giving your best, always being empathetic and being ready to help so that parents like me can go back to work with peace of mind. I truly thank God for your school!” – Vonn Tay

Pat’s Schoolhouse has over a dozen centres across Singapore, with more on the way. Aside from offering the usual STEM subjects, kids are also exposed to a strong arts and music programme which culminates in an annual showcase event.
There’s also a 360-degree virtual tour for each Pat’s Schoolhouse branch so you can get a feel of the premises. The only downside is that there are currently only four infant care centres on the roster at the moment.

Rest assured that kids have tender loving care
“Rest assured that kids are in clean and TCl. Tender love and care. My kids had his N time in 2020 Great World” city. Such a fantastic place. Thanks a lot, Li Laoshi and Ms Hannah! He also had great classmates!” – Chen Yang
I appreciate the care and warmth of all the teachers
“The 30th-year music fest was really well organised. Besides the myriad of activities, I appreciate the care and warmth of all the pats teachers that were evident at every stage. From the teacher at the gift redemption booth who guided my little one through a man-made maze game to pick her prize to the Super enthused ones cheering her on to make music using crockery. I like how the Teachers at Pat’s schoolhouse focus on stretching the kids. it’s never about what they know, it’s allowing them to discover what they don’t. Well done!” – Kaur Rosvinder
