The 5 Best Table Lamps in Singapore
For reading, studying, or looking at electronic devices, you can’t go wrong with using the best table lamps in Singapore. After all, they can do wonders for both your eyesight and concentration.
And that’s what today’s listicle is all about—to give you excellent options for proper lighting when you’re sitting at your desk working or reading something.
We do hope this serves as an “illuminating” guide for you!
The Best Table Lamps in Singapore
To give you a short list of the best table lamps in Singapore, we tested, reviewed, and rated today’s products that have the following features:
1. BenQ WiT MindDuo Parent-Child Eye-Care Reading Lamp

Total Scores
It’s easy to be sceptical about a lighting product name that has the words “eye care” in it. But the BenQ MindDuo Reading Lamp goes beyond mere illumination and well into giving your eyes the breaks they deserve.
It’s called a parent-child lamp because it’s designed to provide a conducive reading and studying environment for kids and parents. In particular, its goal is to prevent myopic vision, especially among young readers (its cute packaging scores extra points, too).
It also casts a broader illumination with 150% wider than other traditional study lamps.
We checked how dimmable its LED lighting is and were pleasantly surprised that it allows a lot of control over colour temperature (from 2,700K to 6,000K) and brightness for reading books and scrolling through devices.
A human infrared seat sensor detects when to switch on and shut off when the reader sits on and leaves their chair, providing a smart and convenient energy-saving solution. For extra-forgetful readers like school kids, this is a feature that’s right up our alley.
There’s a handy ring control and a knob for easy adjustment, too. It can fit in nearly any size and type of workspace with its adjustable hinges and a sturdy base that won’t topple over.
But the biggest selling point for us is its indicator light that flashes every half hour to remind us to rest our eyes in-between reading a book or a screen.
However, there’s a literal price to pay for all these features. With a price tag that’s nearly $379, it costs almost twice as much as most study lamps, as it has more exclusive smart, eye-care and intelligent features than other brands as well.
Pros
- Sleek design with a sturdy base
- Has a unique Eye-Care Technologies – No blue light & No flicker
- Sensors adjust illumination automatically or switches off and on
Cons
- Has a higher price tag than other lamps
- Controls might be a tad too touch-sensitive, especially for kids
Customer Reviews
You can adjust this lamp to suit virtually any combination of brightness and colour temperature
“Overall, I highly recommend this desk lamp if you are experiencing severe eyestrain using other less-expensive, poorly-designed desk lamps. You can adjust this lamp to suit virtually any combination of brightness and colour temperature you prefer.” – Bill D.
Its design means no shadows or dark spots around my computer or desk
“Easy to set up and provides great lighting for my desk. The way it is designed means no shadows or dark spots around my computer or desk. Easy to adjust mode/brightness. Highly recommended.” – Margaret A.
2. Philips 66049 Gadwall Desk Lamp

Total Scores
If you want your office or home lighting no-nonsense and fuss-free, then the Philips 66049 Gadwall Desk Lamp might just fill the bill nicely.
It uses glare-free LED technology, which can also be used with a dimmer switch. The dimmer is sold separately, though, which somewhat diminishes the promise of adjustable lighting.
But we also appreciate the preset colour temperatures that allow users to create an ambience for everything from reading to entertaining guests. It looks especially nice when illuminating a romantic dinner.
It’s a pretty affordable table lamp and could do well for small workspaces and those who do a lot of reading by their bedside. The lamp is also made of sleek, die-cast aluminium that can suit most contemporary interior designs.
The downside is that its unfussiness is apparent even in its design. We checked if the base swivels and were disappointed that it didn’t.
The Gadwall model only comes in white and doesn’t have other colour options to offer, as well.
Pros
- Affordable price tag
- Dimmable on four levels
- Sleek aluminium look and feel
Cons
- Doesn’t come with colour options
- Dimmer is sold separately
- Out of stock in most stores

Eyes are now less tired after working
“I like the fact that I can adjust the brightness according to my needs. My eyes are now less tired after working on my desk as compared with before.” – Celestine Thong
Comfortable, even and wide light
“The light quality itself is good. Comfortable, even and wide light. 4 preset colour temperatures. Nice touch control. Clamp provided. Good built too. 5* for light quality.” – Sheikh Abu Bakar
3. BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading Lamp

Total Scores
Though it isn’t strictly a table lamp, the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading Lamp makes it to this list for several practical reasons. The biggest one would be that monitor lamps are much-needed for those of us who are in front of computer screens for many hours.
We tried using the ScreenBar for some overtime work that lasted well past midnight. We’re happy to report that its built-in light sensor adjusted well to the room’s brightness and dimmed accordingly—so no eyestrains (and no complaints) here!
Plus points on it being USB powered, making it rechargeable via a power bank, a phone charger, or any other USB outlet. We like this versatility because it doesn’t require us to keep getting up just to plug it in for more juice.
We give more thumbs-up to ScreenBar because it doesn’t take up too much space in a home office or study room. Since it just clips onto the monitor, there aren’t any cables and bases to deal with.
It’s just too bad that it can’t be used with laptops and thicker monitors, though.
But for those who want an uncluttered desk, this portable and handy tool can give adjustable lighting while being inconspicuous.
Pros
- Affordable price tag
- Compatible with most monitors
- Doesn’t take up too much desk space
- Can get power from various USB sources
Cons
- Not a desk lamp per se
- Can’t be used with laptops
- Not ideal for thicker monitors

The light does not spill onto the screen but only on the workspace and keyboard
“This thing is amazing! It fits perfectly on top of my 24-inch screen and is unobtrusive but the directional light it gives out over my workspace is worth every penny. The light does not spill onto the screen but only on your workspace and your keyboard. I love the fact that it is so easy to change the colour temperature as I like all my lighting to be of the “daylight type.” You can also adjust the brightness and the direction of the lighting area to suit your needs. I have absolutely no complaints about it and I just wish something like this existed long ago when I first bought a computer If you find that you need lighting on your workspace, then just get this thing!” – “Catman”
They are high quality and a great alternative to lamps when desk space is at a minimum.
“So impressed with these lights!!! They are high quality and a great alternative to lamps when desk space is at a minimum. No glare whatsoever. Bought two. Probably one the best, if not the best purchase I’ve made on Amazon in terms of meeting expectations.” – Mel N.
4. Xiaomi Philips EyeCare 2 Smart Desk Lamp

Total Scores
When we first watched a demonstration of how the Xiaomi Phillips Eyecare Smart Lamp 2 worked, we admit to being blown away by first impressions.
Because if there’s one thing this table lamp offers, it’s sleek, clean good looks. It’s the only completely foldable desk lamp with no sharp angles we’ve seen thus far, making it a safe choice for homes with kids and pets.
But impressive aesthetics aside, this Xiaomi-Phillips collaboration has resulted in a table lamp that’s perfect for reading and contemporary workspaces.
For starters, it gives plenty of light coverage, which we tested on a long work desk. It managed to illuminate the equivalent of two workspaces, thanks to its 180° foldability.
An eye care feature is in place, with a special “for schoolchildren” mode, too.
And with a proprietary app, it can be easily controlled via Android or iOS phones. It’s also got a built-in light sensor so you won’t have to manually adjust brightness when the sun goes down.
One downside we experienced during the unboxing and setting up is that the manual only comes with instructions in Chinese. But as some satisfied customers have stated, it’s easy enough to get the English translation online.
Pros
- Aesthetic, ergonomic-centred design with no sharp angles
- Affordable price tag
- Can fold up to 180°
Cons
- No colour variations (comes in white only)
- Hard to find in online and actual shops
- The instruction manual is in Chinese
Customer Reviews
Download the Xiaomi App from the internet and a few clicks and you’re good
“Highly recommended! Just download the English manual and Xiaomi App from the internet and a few clicks and you’re good. The base is about 18cm, folded height is 35cm and feels heavy/sturdy build. 2 LED lights, one at back and one at the bendable arm.” – John J.
Eye care, I believe, is the best feature
“Works as intended. Excellent quality. Eye care, I believe, is the best feature; not to mention, the item is a smart lamp, able to be controlled with the Mi home app. Now I can study!” – Geric E.
5. IKEA RIGGAD LED Work Lamp

Total Scores
We decided to include a table lamp that’s gotten a prestigious iF Design Award in this list. Any product bestowed with this award practically carries a badge of design distinction.
But beyond its sleek details and birch accents, the IKEA RIGGAD LED Work Lamp sufficiently delivers on functionality. For starters, the wooden base is actually a wireless charger for smartphones!
It can swivel around easily to cast directed light for up to 60°. And since it uses LED bulbs, there’s a significant energy efficiency benefit for its users.
But as far as providing features that reduce eyestrain goes, we find it a bit lacking. It does give a strong light source that’s great for bedside reading but not for long hours of computer work.
It also goes well with Scandinavian-inspired interiors with its clean, minimalist look. However, it comes only in white and has no other colour options.
Still, for those who like combining minimalist aesthetics with wireless functionality, this might prove to be a good purchase.
Pros
- Award-winning design
- USB port allows two devices to charge at the same time
- Features a wireless charger
Cons
- Out of stock in most online and physical stores
- Only compatible with newer smartphone models
- No adjustable lighting
Customer Reviews
The wireless charger is top-notch
“This lamp is sturdy, the base is heavily covered with wooden surface, arms and joints are metal. The power adapter is relatively big but powerful, the adapter-to-lamp connector is proprietary (not USB type) but there is a USB port on the front to charge USB devices. The wireless charger is top-notch and charges the Samsung Galaxy S quite fast. Absolutely recommended.” – Noel L.
The charging pad works perfectly
“The charging pad works perfectly. Also, cool that no socket is lost since the lamp still has a USB port. The light is bright enough.
Unfortunately only 4 stars because of the loading area where the + is relatively close to the bar from the lamp. In other words, you can’t charge the iPhone 8 Plus in every direction. But best of all: it makes no noise when charging and no beep.” – Elias
