That way, you can choose the type that suits your needs when you do check out our list of the best lamps. Anyway, come and look at what you need to know!
What Kind Of Bedside Lamp Should I Buy?
There are plenty of bedside lamps in the market. Most of them are usually set up on a nightstand or bedside table. Others are very tall floor lamps.
When getting a floor lamp, always make sure it’s low enough to level with your eyes when sitting up in bed: that way, you’ll be able to get ample lighting.
What are you going to use the bedside lamp for? That is the question that needs to be answered. If you need it for nighttime reading, then a brighter lamp is needed.
If you need it mostly for a nightlight, especially when used in a child’s room, then a lamp with good dimming is a better choice for you.
Shade or Not?
There’s always a longstanding debate whether or not to get a lamp with a lampshade or not. Shades are usually there to manually dim the light, and it isn’t exactly necessary with some modern lamps that already have a dimming function.
But when choosing a lampshade, note that the rule of the thumb is that the height needs to be ⅔ of the lamp, while its width must be twice the width of the lamp.
If the lamp is going to be used for bedtime reading, then the base of the lampshade should be in line with your eyes when sitting up in bed.
Anything else, such as LED lighting and changing colors is merely an addition. As long as it fulfills its main use, it’s good to go.
That being said, you might feel otherwise. If you feel like color-change features can help you relax even more in your bedroom, for instance, make the option to change colors a prerequisite!

Here are some reviews from Amazon about this amazing product:
I’m a hippie at heart and love incorporating the beauty of nature into my home. This isn’t our first salt lamp and with another already on the way from Amazon, it won’t be our last.
Do I believe in the natural healing properties of these things? Not really. I have been using this one, however, in place of an air ionizer that I’ve since moved to a different room. I don’t feel a difference in the air or energy between the two which I guess is a good thing. I prefer the natural route, anyway.
The bulb is great as it slightly hearts the salt without it becoming too hot. That way it allows for ionization to happen without little fingers being hurt at the expense.
Mine’s about 7″ and 6 lbs which is great for the space in which I wanted it to be placed.
I place this salt lamp on my desk, I usually have to work on computer for several hours, this lamp helps me calm down, when I feel tired. Its colors are rich and beautiful, which pleases me much. Sometimes, when I do yoga, I usually will open it for a while to help me feel peaceful.

Here are some reviews from Lazada about this amazing product:
Very cool looking moon and better than the other I purchased for comparison. Although the 3D printing quality is clear upon close inspection, this globe looks more like the moon we see in the sky than the moulded version when lit. The base on this one is just a single small button that serves as the attachment spot for the charger as well as turning the moon on, off and changing from a white glow to an amber one. Because of that you can place it in the holder in different positions.
The moulded moon has a more elaborate bottom plate that holds the ‘mechanics’ so you’re forced to set it in its stand in just one position so that plate is at the bottom and doesn’t show. When off (not glowing) this moon doesn’t have much definition, but I like the look of it when lit much better.
Both moons are packaged well although this one has the stand put together already where the other needs to be put together. Not a big deal, but if being given as a present, this one makes a nicer presentation. The other thing that’s cool about this one is that when you take it out of the box, it’s easy to inadvertently touch the button and since mine arrived with some charge, I got the full effect right away. Not sure if it was intentional but very cool first impression, especially since we were getting a stunning full moon in the sky as well so the similarity was instantly pleasing.

I’ve always had a fascination with space and astronomy. And even people who don’t at least have a passing appreciation for the moon. Having this in our bedroom at night is nice. It sits on top my dresser about 6 feet form teh bed, and I often falling asleep looking at it. I turn it down really low, but it still provides enough glow to navigate teh room during nighttime bathroom breaks with using another light and waking the wife up. At the low setting that I use, it stays on 24/7 for about 10 days between charges. At full brightness it may not even make it through a night, but I’m not sure.
All in all, it’s just a really nice décor piece that can easily be moved wherever you want, adjusted to whatever brightness you want, and is nice to look at, day or night.
3. Silicone Cat Lamp
This cute lamp is an LED lamp that’s made of silicone, and has 2 activation modes, tapping, and pressing the on button. It has 7 light modes, and can be changed if patted.
This little kitty is perfect for children for its squeezable, bouncy design, making it safe for little hands to handle without breaking. The silicone is BPA-free, as well as washable.
The best part is that this lamp’s battery supports up to 15 hours of use and can be recharged. This convenient feature alone already makes it one of the best bedside lamps in Singapore.
- Lasts for 15hours
- Easy to use
- Can’t be used while charging
Here are some reviews from Amazon about this amazing product:
Found out my son is afraid of the dark. Brought this the same day I found out and got it two days later. When I put him in his crib and turn this on…… I kid you not, he went to sleep in one second and haven’t woke up until the next morning. My fiancé laughed because I also love cats and the light is a cat but my fiancé impressed on how fast our child can sleep with this on. The best part is that it doesn’t bother me why I sleep as well.
I love it! It works great. Sometimes it does get stuck on red while changing colors or first turning the colors on. Its ears are also just a little bit messed up but it looks like the photo enough and is larger than I expected too. Very cute, super bright, would be great for a kid or person of any age. I’m nearly 20 but I love it!
