Prawning at Orto

Hours: Daily, 10 AM–3 AM
Price: $$
We had a relaxing time prawning at Orto, conveniently just across from the Haw Par Villa MRT. It’s indoors, so no mosquito hassle (you can boast of getting real bites and not from bugs!).
I caught a dozen prawns in 2 hours with one rod—pretty proud of that! It’s also a great spot for laid-back fishing with a beer in hand. My date didn’t catch much but still had a blast.
Pro-tip: You can have the staff cook the prawns for S$10, saving you the hassle of taking them home.
Hai Bin Prawning

Address: 6 Tebing Lane

Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: $
Hai Bin Prawning at Punggol is a top spot for first-timers and families. The friendly staff are eager to teach prawning tips and keep the area well-managed, ensuring plenty of space and seats. One staff member even helped a little girl catch her first prawn!
The staff also helped set up our BBQ grill. The catch rate is solid (about 15 in 3 hours), with the pool refilled every hour.
But if your luck is down, just let them know when returning the rod. They’ll hand you a packet of fresh prawns!
Pro-tip: The place hosts corporate events, offering packages that include a prawning competition, buffet, and prawn BBQ.
Lower Seletar Reservoir Park Fishing Deck

Address: Yishun Ave 1

Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: Free
My dad introduced me to legal fishing at Lower Seletar Reservoir, making it a nostalgic spot for me. I’ve been luring there for as long as I can remember.
While some days the low water levels and overgrown weeds make prawning tough, it’s still a great family getaway. The bridge still offers plenty of space for walking, exercising, and enjoying the beautiful sunset.
Plus, the kids will love spotting fish and turtles from the sturdy bridge.
Pro-tip: Keep your eyes peeled for the occasional otter sighting in the reservoir!
Bait N Catch

Address: 60 Pasir Ris Dr 3
Contact: +6596205123
Hours: Daily, 7 AM–3 AM
Price: $
Time certainly flies at Bait N Catch. My friends and I went prawning for 4 hours, then stayed longer to BBQ and eat our catch.
The well-shaded spot with outdoor air conditioning and fans kept us cool. The friendly staff even helped us catch our first couple of prawns. It has a great catch rate too. The staff topped up the pond twice while we were there!
Pro-tip: Prawning newbie? Don’t fret because the staff will gladly guide you through the process.
D’Best Fishing

Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: $$$
Prawning with kids can be challenging, but D’Best Fishing handles it well. We had half a dozen kids in tow, and it was still a blast for all ages in our motley group, thanks to the super-helpful staff.
I love that the place stocks its well-kept ponds weekly with several tons of fresh live fish, including barramundi, grouper, and mangrove jack, along with prawns, flower crabs, and baby lobster.
There’s a pro-pond for serious anglers and a beginner-friendly spot too. As for prawning-focused activities, those who prefer to do them in air-conditioned comfort can perform them indoors.
Pro-tip: Weekends get crowded with families and groups, so the best time to visit is on weekdays during non-peak hours, like before 8 AM.
Fish@AMK

Address: 190 Ang Mo Kio Ave 8
Contact: +6583386530
Hours: Daily, noon–6 AM and 9 AM–midnight
Price: $$
When I’m feeling down, prawning at Fish@AMK lifts my spirits. The pond is packed with prawns, and I occasionally catch a mud crab too, making me feel like I’m really good at something.
It’s shaded under MRT tracks, with big fans providing a cool breeze, so it feels quite natural. I can also enjoy drinks, snacks, and the best part—grilling your fresh catch right on the spot. There’s nothing like savouring seafood minutes after reeling it in.
Pro-tip: We prefer coming at midnight since it’s less crowded, and the place closes at 6 AM.
FishBugis+

Address: 201 Victoria Street
Contact: +6590080201
Hours: Daily, noon–6 AM and 9 AM–midnight
Price: $$
FishBugis+ offers indoor, air-conditioned prawning (for those down-to-earth but atas dates) at reasonable rates—S$14/hr for students and S$18/hr for adults. The place also provides meat bait, so there’s no need to buy icky worms.
My date loved that it also provides a BBQ pit, utensils, and seasoning, plus a sink to prep our prawns. Also, the staff discreetly saved her from embarrassment by giving us prawns from the freezer to BBQ!
Pro-tip: You can only bring fish home in their provided container if you have storage capacity at home.
Riviera Prawning
— Media from sammybento
Address: 60 Punggol E
Contact: +6589237835
Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: $
I recently revisited Riviera Prawning and was pleased to see it still meets expectations. Despite using a house rod, I had a good catch rate (not being snobby–it’s an angler thing).
I was pleasantly surprised that the BBQ setup, including charcoal and firestarter, is now free. The place is also family-friendly, with a small area for kids to paint and colour ceramic figures and books.
Pro-tip: Try Riviera Prawning’s proprietary chilli sauce with your freshly grilled prawns. It’s amazing!
ATC Fishing Village at Jurong Hill

Address: 241 Jln. Ahmad Ibrahim
Contact: +6562658268
Hours: Open 24 hours
Price: $
ATC Fishing Village at Jurong Hill stands out for its hours and affordability, especially after price hikes elsewhere. My friends and I got a great deal: two 3-hour packages (buy two, get one free) at just S$20/hour.
The package includes chicken heart bait (there are also worms, but nope, don’t like ‘em!), BBQ equipment, and consumables. Charcoal is provided on request, and there’s a sitting area in the back for BBQing.
Pro-tip: Payment options are cash and NETS only.
