The 5 Best Kids Dance Studios in Singapore for Proper Forms and Postures

Instructor Qualifications: We looked closely at the credentials of the teaching staff at each studio. We favoured programs led by certified teachers with professional performance backgrounds and recognised teaching qualifications.

Variety of Dance Styles: We checked the range of genres offered to ensure families have options that suit their children's interests. Studios with multiple styles make it easier for kids to explore different movements under one roof.

Structured Progression and Exams: We evaluated if the studios provide a clear path for advancement from beginner classes to graded examinations. We prioritised places that offer recognised syllabus training alongside fun recreational options.

Performance and Stage Opportunities: We considered how often students get to showcase their skills through recitals, competitions, or public events. Giving kids a chance to perform is a great way to build their confidence and stage presence.

Hours:

  • Monday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  •  Wednesday, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Thursday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday-Sunday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Parents seeking top-tier instruction will love Amy’s School of Dance. For starters, they employ teachers certified by prestigious organisations like the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).

Having highly trained instructors ensures your child gets proper technical grounding right from the start.

We dropped by during a weekend session to watch the lively atmosphere. We loved how the kids can easily explore everything from classical ballet to upbeat hip hop and tumbling here.

However, while the variety of classes and clear ATOD examination pathways provide great structure, you should know that regular classes operate on a strict drop-off basis.

You also won’t be able to sit inside the studio to watch every lesson, though they do offer scheduled viewing days and send video updates.

Also be aware that class placement relies on a teacher’s assessment after a trial, so you can’t just pick any level based solely on your child’s age.

Pros

  • Prepares students for ATOD exams
  •
  • Offers ballet, jazz, hip hop, and K-Pop
  • Sorts classes by age and skill level

Cons

  •
  • Placement requires a trial assessment

A strong dance foundation for all three kids

Our eldest daughter started off in Amy’s 5 years ago just to learn basic dance techniques. We have been blessed with great teachers who have given her a firm foundation, and have trained her to take part and win in dance competitions. Now, all our 3 kids are dancing with Amy’s! It’s been a great journey, and it’s a great school to be in. 😀

Fun and supportive ballet journey

My daughter has been attending ballet at ASOD since K2 (2019) and she absolutely enjoys her weekly classes. The teachers and staff are very professional, friendly and responsive. This school is not just about business as they also organise extra events during school holidays like movie   screening and dancing with parents. They really put in a lot of effort to make the kids happy. This is definitely a fun school to introduce your girl to the world pf dancing.

We appreciate that every child can easily test out the floor with a free trial class before committing to the affordable group packages.

It’s also impressive how this school clearly produces results. Some of their students took home champion titles at recent national competitions.

Just keep in mind that the strict focus on Ballroom and Latin means your child won’t have access to a broader mix of general genres under the same roof.

  • Produces award-winning student competitors

Cons

  • Focuses only on Ballroom and Latin

Dedicated ballroom coaches who push kids to grow

I have two of my children learning Ballroom dancing with these two wonderful and amazing coaches for 2 years. They are very dedicated and I love the positive energy they are giving towards all their students. They have a very beautiful and elegant dance studio at an awesome location. My kids are always positively pushed to their next level. Thank you Mikhail and Oleysa Eremeev for giving them the chances to compete in Blackpool online during this Covid period.

Professional Latin and Ballroom training in a positive environment

My daughter has been taking Latin and ballroom at GDA for some time and it has been an incredible journey and wonderful experience for her. The teachers here are truly exceptional and nurturing! They strike the perfect balance between teaching proper technique and ensuring the kids are having a blast at each class. The studio is always clean and welcoming! We absolutely love how this facility has four large studios and a massive multipurpose space equipped with full sound and lighting systems. Having access to well-equipped facilities makes learning commercial styles feel like a true performance experience!

Older kids can join the dedicated Junior Programme, which cleverly divides students into different tracks like Foundation and O Crew Junior to match their specific skill level. These energetic dance classes are fantastic for building raw confidence and fitness.

However, they only accept students aged five and above, so you’ll need to find another spot if you’re looking to enroll a toddler.

Fun and inclusive Deepavali dance sessions

Bolly Dancing Studio always do the most amazing job teaching our children (age 7-11) authentic celebratory dances for our Junior School Deepavali celebrations. The sessions are fun and engaging and the final performance piece is always inclusive and a great spectacle! Thank you to the teachers for their enthusiasm and encouragement. We highly recommend the studio.

Engaging Bollywood dance that kids enjoyed

The Bolly Dancing studio instructors demonstrated great adaptability and inclusivity by engaging the audience in a collective dance on the ground. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity, which lasted for a continuous 30 minutes. The instructors skillfully maintained a positive and lively atmosphere, resulting in the longest applause of the entire event. Great going BDS.
