5 Best Asian Restaurants in Singapore Worth Wok-ing Into

Menu Variety: We looked for menus that won’t leave adventurous eaters bored or picky kids staging a protest.

Atmosphere and Ambience: We checked whether the vibe fits date night, family catch-ups, or dinner with the boss.

Ingredient Quality: We prioritised fresh ingredients and regional flavours that don’t need fancy plating to impress.

Value for Money: We weighed portions and the overall experience against the bill, because your wallet’s joining dinner too.

Customer Service: We looked for attentive staff who’ll handle group orders and dietary requests without turning dinner into a drama.

Singapore’s makan plans can spark more debate than the bill. But picking the best Asian restaurant in Singapore shouldn’t require a committee meeting.

From fiery curries to Peranakan food, there’s plenty to tempt you out of your usual order. Your lunch kakis can survive one meal without their default chicken rice.

We’ve rounded up several spots to help settle that endless where-to-eat debate. Bring your appetite and someone who won’t hijack the last dumpling!

Website

Address: 91 Pasir Panjang Road

Contact: +65 9344 1680 (Phone/WhatsApp) | [email protected]

Hours: Sunday–Thursday: 11 AM–10 PM; Friday–Saturday: 11 AM–midnight

Super Thai by Soi Aroy lets you chase Thai flavours without picking a fight with your taste buds. Its Pasir Panjang outlet offers four spice levels, from Zero to Super Thai, so your lunch kakis needn’t agree on heat.

Beyond the chilli choices, the kitchen combines traditional Thai dishes with modern twists and imports many ingredients from Thailand.

We like how lunch sets and group set meals give diners alternatives to building an entirely à la carte order.

Come evening, the restaurant takes on a bistro feel with Thai-inspired cocktails. Friday and Saturday midnight closing times leave room for another round.

That said, bookings for 10 or more require an S$100 deposit, which counts towards your bill. Cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, and your makan fund takes the hit!

Pros

  • Four spice levels, including a zero-spice option
  • Lunch sets and group set meals
  • Thai-inspired cocktails
  • Open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays

Cons

  • S$100 deposit required for bookings of 10 or more
  • Deposit forfeited for cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice

“A great spot for a satisfying and affordable Thai meal”

Super Thai by Soi Aroy is a great spot for a satisfying and affordable Thai meal. The weekday lunch set is excellent value for money, with generous portions, tasty sides, and a drink included. I had the basil chicken rice set, which was flavourful and paired well with the fish cake and chicken wing. The restaurant also has a modern, stylish interior that makes for a pleasant dining experience. It gets quite busy during lunchtime, so it’s best to come early

2. TungLok Peking Duck

Website

Address: 238 Thomson Road, #02-11/12, Velocity@Novena Square

Contact: +65 6992 2777 | Fax: +65 6992 2818

Hours: Daily: Lunch: 11:30 AM–3 PM; Dinner: 6 PM–10 PM

TungLok Peking Duck gives crispy duck skin a cheeky sidekick: blueberry sauce and popping candy! Its signature Silver Hill Farm Irish duck brings a little theatre to your Novena makan plans.

The tasting continues with breast meat paired with mustard or sweet dark sauce. Meanwhile, thigh meat joins wheat wraps and assorted condiments, so you don’t have to give every bite the same treatment.

For group meals, the outlet offers 130 seats overall and three private dining rooms. Weekday lunch sets cater to two, four, or six diners, though they feature other duck preparations rather than the signature Peking duck experience.

However, bringing your own alcohol incurs a per-bottle corkage charge, so your favourite wine comes with extra baggage.

The lunch promotion also excludes public holidays and applies only to dine-in meals.

Pros

  • Silver Hill Farm Irish duck with distinctive accompaniments
  • Crispy skin served with blueberry sauce and popping candy
  • Three private dining rooms
  • Weekday lunch sets for two, four or six diners

Cons

  • Per-bottle corkage charges for BYO alcohol
  • Lunch promotion excludes public holidays and takeaway
  • Lunch sets don’t include the signature Peking duck experience

Address: 333 North Bridge Road, #07-11/12, Odeon 333

Contact: +65 3138 4315 / WhatsApp: +65 8205 6611 / [email protected] (reservations)

Hours: Monday–Friday: Lunch: 11:30 AM–3 PM, Dinner: 5:30 PM–10 PM; Saturday–Sunday: Dim Sum Brunch: 11 AM–3 PM, Lunch: 11:30 AM–3 PM, Dinner: 5:30 PM–10 PM

The Black Pearl takes your yum cha plans seven floors up, with skyline views to match. Executive Chef Dee Chan gives contemporary Cantonese dishes a starring role, including signature BBQ Premium Iberico Char Siew.

On weekends, brunch offers over 40 à la carte dim sum choices, including Baby Abalone Siew Mai. Alternatively, individually served dim sum sets mean you won’t need to race your lunch kakis for every dumpling.

For celebrations or client meals, three private rooms accommodate eight to twelve guests each. We like that they can combine into a larger space when your guest list grows beyond the usual suspects.

The catch? Lunch, dinner and weekend dim sum sets require at least two diners, so solo visits mean ordering à la carte. Weekend dim sum sets require everyone to agree on the same option whenever a course offers a choice.

Pros

  • Seventh-floor dining with skyline views
  • Over 40 weekend à la carte dim sum choices
  • Individually served weekend dim sum sets
  • Three private rooms that can combine into a larger space

Cons

  • Lunch, dinner and weekend dim sum sets require two diners minimum
  • Weekend dim sum set diners must choose the same option for courses offering a choice

4. Kakushin

Contact: +65 9728 6813 / [email protected]

Hours: Daily: Lunch: 11:30 AM–3 PM; Dinner: 6 PM–10 PM

Kakushin takes the ordering dilemma off your plate with seasonal Japanese omakase at Scotts Square. The chef builds courses around market availability, including fish sourced from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market.

Behind the scenes, the kitchen ages its house-made ponzu and shoyu for seven days. We love that it prepares selected Wagyu dishes sous-vide for around 30 hours, giving patience a place on the menu.

Three omakase tiers start at S$168++ per person, while à la carte choices include an A5 Wagyu Sando.

Plus, if you have dietary requirements, you can discuss them when booking so the team can advise on suitable options.

Still, dinner availability can change according to demand, which makes spontaneous makan plans trickier. Arrive more than 15 minutes late without notice, and the restaurant may release your table.

Pros

  • Seasonal omakase featuring fish sourced from Toyosu Market
  • House-made ponzu and shoyu aged for seven days
  • Three omakase tiers from S$168++ per person
  • À la carte options, including an A5 Wagyu Sando

Cons

  • Dinner availability may change according to demand
  • Tables may be released after arrivals are over 15 minutes late without notice

Had a really great Omakase experience here. The seafood and ingredients was very fresh. And service was excellent too – Maggie was attentive and helpful, paying attention to refill our drinks and serve the food at a good pace. The melon at the end was a nice surprise, so pretty and refreshing.

Overall, it was a fantastic 5-star experience. Good food, good service, good vibes.

5. Jiak Kim House

Website

Address: 5 Jiak Kim Street, #01-17

Contact: +65 9831 5430 / [email protected]

Hours: Daily: Lunch: noon–3 PM; Dinner: 6 PM–11 PM

Jiak Kim House swaps warehouse work for dinner plans in a restored 1920s building along the Singapore River. The heritage setting gives your next celebration a little more character than the usual hotel dining room.

Meanwhile, Chef Partner Seow Tzi Qin blends North, South and Southeast Asian flavours with contemporary techniques. Dishes such as Tom Yum Chee Cheong Fun and Seafood Laksa Fettuccine give familiar favourites a wardrobe change.

You can choose set menus for a planned progression or order à la carte to follow your cravings.

We also like how the restaurant hosts private and corporate events, making it an option when your makan plans grow into a proper occasion.

The catch is that its Beer-Infused Roasted Duck requires a one-day pre-order. If that’s your must-have, give the team advance notice rather than leaving dinner to destiny.

Pros

  • Restored 1920s heritage warehouse along the Singapore River
  • Modern dishes drawing on North, South and Southeast Asian flavours
  • Set menus and à la carte options
  • Hosts private and corporate events

Cons

“Jiak Kim House surprised us in many aspects”

Jiak Kim House surprised us in many aspects. The food, the environment, and the staff.

Fariz was very consultative and understood the dishes really well. He attended to us and recommended Seafood with Laksa Sauce (in the photograph), which is his favourite dish. It was delectable.

We also had another main dish, which is Kam Heong Sambal Grouper. It was excellent. We forgot to photograph it. 😃

The one in the photograph is Ondeh Ondeh Tiramisu. We had Mao San Wang Durian Creme Brûlée, which was amazingly delicious (especially for me who is not fond of creme brûlée).
