What to See and Do in The Mill
Take a self-guided architectural tour

To fully appreciate The Mill’s unique blend of neo-Gothic and industrial design elements, a tour of its architecture is in order (it’s by one of the many excellent architecture firms in the country). There’s no official guided tour of this building, so you’ll need to do it on your own like I do.
As you explore, look up and around and you’ll notice the elegant intricate ironwork, grand arches, and spires, which evoke historical charm. Take note of the beautiful contrast with modern industrial features like exposed steel beams and concrete finishes (and snap pics!).
Visit creative studios

There are various studios at The Mill offering a unique opportunity to glimpse into artists and designers’ creative process, seeing firsthand how artworks and designs evolve from concept to completion. Walk-ins are generally allowed at the creative studios, but it’s always a good idea to check ahead.
Since it’s a creative colony, I make it a point to engage with the artists and designers, as they often enjoy sharing insights about their work. Doing this can give you the chance to purchase unique pieces directly from the creators, adding a special touch to your collection!
Attend private functions

I recently attended a high-fashion show at The Mill, and its distinctive architecture and moody ambience made the perfect backdrop. I have a feeling it’s the same regardless of the function’s theme.
The Mill’s spaces can be tailored to suit its clients’ needs. If you’re planning to hold one soon, booking your event well in advance is recommended, as these sought-after venues can fill up quickly due to their popularity and distinctive charm.
Join workshops and events

The Mill was built for workshops, events, and what it calls “Happenings” for memorable things like the Singapore Design Week, corporate dinners for luxury brands, and numerous creative sessions anyone can join.
These workshops range from art and design to wellness and entrepreneurship. Prices generally range from S$50 to S$200 per session, with shorter, introductory workshops on the lower end and more intensive or specialised sessions on the higher end.
Admire art exhibits
Media from themillsg
The Mill holds rotating art exhibitions by both local and international artists at Nonage Gallery that showcase a diverse range of contemporary art. I love this concept as it gives a dynamic and creative vibe and ensures there’s always something exciting to view.
I always plan my visit around the exhibition openings and artist talks, as these events offer deeper insights into the artworks and a chance to meet the artists behind them.
Take selfies in front of the car park murals

The car park at The Mill is a hidden gem for OOTD backdrops, thanks to its stunning black-and-white Victorian-esque murals that cover the walls. It’s a popular spot not just for casual photos but also for wedding portraits.
On any given day, you might spot vintage cars and even supercars parked here, adding a touch of luxury and intrigue. It’s my favourite place to play pretend that I’m a crazy rich Asian.

When I’m feeling slightly overwhelmed at the ridiculously photogenic spaces of The Mill, I head upstairs to the second floor where Alchemist is. This café has a grungy vibe, grey walls, and grand chandeliers that perfectly match the building’s neo-Gothic aesthetic.
It offers flakey almond croissants and other fresh pastries that go well with a good range of coffee and tea selections. Even if you’re not into coffee and pastries, the pet-friendly alfresco area outside the café is a great spot to sit and chill.
