The 5 Best Tapa Joints in Singapore You’ll Visit Again and Again!

  • Culinary Authenticity: We prioritised kitchens led by chefs with genuine regional heritage or extensive culinary training across Spain. Preparing traditional recipes with classic techniques makes a huge difference in every bite.

  • Menu Flexibility: Great tapas spots need to cater to quick solo snacking just as easily as large group celebrations. We looked for menus offering diverse sharing plates, customisable lunch options, and flexible portions.

  • Atmosphere and Vibe: We favoured venues that thoughtfully design their spaces to capture a warm Mediterranean energy.

  • Value and Promotions: Frequent dining out can get expensive, so we highlighted spots that offer real customer perks. Generous wine packages, bottomless deals, and reasonable cellar policies help stretch your dollar further.

Executive Chef Eduard Castellarnau brings his Michelin-starred training to CasaBite, serving authentic Catalan and Basque dishes from an interactive open kitchen.

Additionally, the digital system can feel a little impersonal if you prefer asking waitstaff for recommendations.

Pros

  • Authentic Catalan and Basque cuisine
  • Flavourful tapas with quality ingredients
  • Interactive open kitchen adds excitement
  • Quick and convenient QR code ordering

Cons

  • Impersonal digital QR ordering

Loved the vibrant art, relaxed atmosphere and riverside setting

The Pink Grapefruit and Mojito were refreshing, and the little charcuterie toppers were such a cute touch. Ended the evening with the Berry Crown Cheesecake, which was almost too pretty to eat.

Loved the vibrant art, relaxed atmosphere and riverside setting. A really nice spot for an easy dinner, tapas and drinks with friends.

Would definitely come back to try more of the menu!

The food was delicious and full of authentic Spanish flavours

Had a great experience at CasaBites! The food was delicious and full of authentic Spanish flavors. The paella was rich and flavorful, and the tapas were perfect for sharing.

One of the best things about this restaurant is its location. The outdoor seating overlooks the Singapore River, making it a lovely spot to relax while enjoying your meal. The atmosphere is especially beautiful in the evening.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable for both the quality and the portion sizes. A great place for date nights, gatherings with friends, or celebrating special occasions.

The food selection was amazing, and it tasted incredible

Had a wonderful unlimited tapas night with my husband. The food selection was amazing and it tasted incredible. Will definitely come back for more tapas nights.

The wait staff were also very attentive and accommodating. Special shout out to Robert and Sha who made our visit very pleasant.

Modern chic restaurant specialising in tapas and wines

Modern chic restaurant specializing in tapas and wines. I especially love the cheese platter that is complemented by sweet, crunchy and savory elements for each bite. The beef was seasoned and grilled just perfectly. Another dish that was really interesting is the grilled octopus with deep fried potatoes. The sauce really adds a deeper level to the dish. Overall, a very nice night out!

3. Kulto

Address: 87 Amoy Street

Contact: +65 9620 5626 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM, 5:30 PM – 10:30 PM

Few chefs capture authentic Spanish tradition quite like Rioja-born José Alonso, who steers this charming Amoy Street establishment.

Kulto honours Iberian roots with seasonal produce, serving stellar plates like crispy Iberico pork belly tapas and charred Iberico pork rib eye. Seafood lovers can also indulge in freshly cooked seafood paella loaded with rich, savoury broth.

A close friend booked a table here last month and highlighted that they paired their velvety Kulto cheesecake with sommelier-selected Spanish wines.

Unfortunately, the main dining room seats only 45. That compact footprint makes walk-in tables nearly impossible during peak rushes and rules out large group events.

Pros

  • Rioja-born executive chef leadership
  • Sommelier-selected Spanish wine pairings
  • Searing Iberico pork tapas specialities
  • Dedicated private room for small groups

Cons

  • Capped 45-seat main room capacity
  • Unsuitable for large group banquets

A fantastic tapas restaurant

The food was equally impressive. The seafood was exceptionally fresh and beautifully prepared. The Iberico pork was a standout—perfectly cooked, incredibly juicy, and packed with flavour. The paella was also delicious, rich in taste, and cooked to perfection.

A fantastic tapas restaurant that delivers both outstanding food and exceptional service. Highly recommended, and I will definitely be returning!

Every dish was wonderful

Came here during the National Day weekend without a reservation and were fortunate enough to get a table. We ordered the seafood paella, Kulto cheesecake, Iberico pork belly tapas, and Iberico pork rib eye, and every dish was wonderful.

A special shoutout to Ruby, who attended to us throughout the evening. She was very attentive, friendly, and even helped us with the paella, which made the dining experience even more pleasant.

4. La Tapería

Address: Shaw Centre #02-10/11, 1 Scotts Road

Contact: +65 8940 3875 | WhatsApp: +65 8940 3875 | [email protected]

Hours: Lunch: Monday-Sunday, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Dinner: Sunday-Thursday, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Friday-Saturday, 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM

La Tapería is backed by the prestigious Les Amis Group and focuses on classic Spanish food without unnecessary gimmicks. The kitchen has maintained consistent quality for over a decade, making them a solid choice for traditional tapas.

One menu highlight is Gambas al Ajillo, sizzling prawns served in glazed earthenware pots with sweet garlic, sea salt, and crusty bread.

The rich, garlicky flavours pair well with classic meat tapas and a selection of Spanish wines, so guests can enjoy a variety of dishes in one meal.

However, timing matters. Lunch orders stop at 2:00 PM, so late arrivals may miss out. Sunday brunch also runs for just two hours, which might leave guests feeling rushed if they want a relaxed meal.

Pros

  • Backed by award-winning Les Amis Group
  • Prime Orchard Road shopping location
  • Authentic earthenware cazuela cooking
  • Curated wine and champagne pairings

Cons

  • Strict 2:00 PM lunch order cutoff
  • Compressed two-hour Sunday brunch

Customer Reviews

The meal begins on a high note

The meal begins on a high note with a quintessential tapas classic: Gambas al Ajillo, served bubbling in a traditional glazed earthenware cazuela. The plump, translucent prawns arrive with an intoxicating aroma of sweet garlic, olive oil, and sea salt. Each prawn possesses that coveted, snappy bite, while the garlic—toasted to a golden hue without a hint of bitterness—infuses the emulsion with profound depth, begging for crusty bread to mop up every drop.

Had a great dinner here

Had a great dinner here. Tapas, mains & deserts were so delicious, as good as having them in Spain. Service was excellent. As it was a birthday dinner, our son was given a complimentary slice of cake with a lit candle. Truly appreciate the staff’s attention to details. We will be back very soon with family & friends. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.

Led by Barcelona-born Chef Carlos Montobbio, ESQUINA brings modern Catalan cuisine to the table.

The chef trained at El Celler de Can Roca, a famous three-Michelin-starred restaurant, and they also partner with Gramona winery for an exclusive wine selection.

Guests can also enjoy crispy roasted pork belly or the decadent uni paella, which packs a strong sea urchin flavour.

But keep in mind, the restaurant charges a steep S$78++ corkage fee for bringing your own wine, so buying a bottle from the house list may be a better option.

Additionally, they operate on a strictly cashless system, so guests can’t pay with cash or local digital transfer apps.

Pros

  • Michelin-trained executive chef leadership
  • Exclusive artisanal Gramona winery partnership
  • Charcoal Josper-grilled tapas specialities
  • Welcoming dog-friendly outdoor terrace

Cons

  • Steep S$78++ wine corkage fee

Customer Reviews

Service is good and fun

Hidden gem !! Everything is nice here. Tapas place means you get to try many dishes. I love their oyster and the sauce with it. So appetising and super delicious. The truffle sour dough is perfect with the caramelised onion. Roasted pork is surprisingly nicely done but im not a roast pork person. Strawberry Dessert is so balanced, not too sweet and with the right amount of liquor. Service is good and fun to sit at counter seats. Will definitely be back to try more other stuff. They are having 15th anniversary dishes now. Yummy!

Absolutely delightful evening

Came for Esquina’s 15th anniversary menu and not only the flavour wows, we appreciated the spiel behind the each creation through the years, to taste the first tapas that chef Carlos presented when he first arrived in SG and such a treat to be served “off the menu” items. For the 15th anniversary celebration, the uni paelle which is usually only available in a tasting menu is ala carte – do make space for this.

Absolutely delightful evening – casual lively vibes and josper grills that hits the spot, explains why it stands after fifteen good years.

Congratulations Chef Carlos
