The Best Curated Destinations in Singapore for Educational, Safe & Sustainable Toys

Age-Appropriateness: We browsed each store (virtually and physically) to see if they sell products that spark any form of cognitive growth or motor skills, relative to the target child’s age.

In addition, labels were checked to ensure compliance with sustainability and safety regulations, specifically those imposed by EN, ASTM, ISO, and CSGR standards.

Each item’s play value (basically a toy’s “playtime mileage”) was also rated, using customer feedback, case studies, and personal experience to assign grades.

Product Range: Stores with 5 or more types of educational, safe, and sustainable toys were favoured, with puzzles, kid-friendly instruments, construction sets, language aids, and interactive math materials among the categories we looked for.

Online catalogues and physical showrooms were reviewed for confirmation.

Customer Service: Experience, interviews, blogs, and forums helped us gauge the professionalism, responsiveness, and product knowledge of the store’s personnel, both in-store and online.

Willingness to assist and having minimal service complaints also mattered.

Unique Features: Entries with extras like play areas, exclusive brands, and community caught our eye. To verify, we reached out to stores and parents/teachers who regularly buy educational toys.

Value for Money: Quotes, discounts, and quality-to-cost balance gave us an idea of whether the stores offer bang-for-your-buck products. Singapore’s average toy pricing was considered as well.

When I came across an article by XCL World Academy on the perks of educational toys, I may or may not have gone on a shopping frenzy the very next day.

See, they claimed that such toys support cognitive, creative, emotional, language, and physical growth. And as it happens, I have a pack of little nephews and nieces who could use a break from their “brain rot” videos.

Now, though? You can’t pry them away from memory puzzles and construction sets!

I’ll happily claim part of that glory, but, of course, I’ll toss a bit toward the toy stores I raided (and the ones featured here). Beyond the educational value, they gave me durable, safe, and eco-friendly products.

1. The Better Toy Store

Operating Hours: Daily – 10 am to 9 pm

Website

Opening with The Better Toy Store wasn’t a random choice. The selection is varied, but each item boils down to one goal, and that’s purposeful play, sans the eco harm.

I learned that firsthand after browsing their “open-ended,” award-winning selection. Every toy there was built to support holistic development, with Djeco’s stacking cubes and PlanToys’ unit blocks as prime examples.

Those “safe” and “green” boxes are also ticked. All the products I inspected met EN71, ASTM, and PEFC requirements.

Don’t worry if that sounds technical. Reps like Glyzel and Klarissa are well-informed enough to break it down.

And from experience, they’re also fab at matching kids with the right toys for their age and needs, with explanations to boot.

Stocks can run dry, though, since they’re sourced from Europe.

Lining up can happen, too. Their branches are buzzing with parents!

The upside? Prices are fair, and they’re generous with discounts.

Pros

  • Award-winning toys and brands
  • Meets/exceeds compliance standards
  • Has multiple branches across Singapore
  • Hands-on staff
  • Offers discounts and deals

Cons

  • Branches are often packed
  • Stocks can get sold out

The Best Place to shop for both parents and kids

The Better Toy Store is hands down the best toy store for kids. They have an amazing range of toys, including premium and high-end options that are perfect for all ages.

I want to give a special thank you to Aloysius for the truly 5-star, personalised and exceptional service. He made the whole shopping experience so pleasant and enjoyable, and it is a big reason we keep coming back for more.

Without a shadow of a doubt, The Better Toy Store is the best place to shop for both parents and kids.

Their friendliness and professionalism really stood out.

Smooth and enjoyable VIP sale experience

Always a joy shopping at The Better Toy Store in Paragon, especially during their VIP Sale! We were warmly attended to by the lovely assistants Glyzel, Pinky, and Hannah, who made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.

They wrapped our Christmas presents super quickly, patiently answered all our queries, and ensured our bill was accurate so we could fully enjoy the sale benefits. Their friendliness and professionalism really stood out.

A truly great shopping experience. Thanks to these three wonderful staff members! Highly recommended.

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 12 pm to 6 pm
  • Sat to Sun – 12 pm to 7 pm

Website

Handy is how I’d describe T For Toys. Thanks to their 24/7 online store, you can grab STEM or artsy items without dealing with Singapore’s traffic.

The reliable delivery service further amps that perk. I got my order within four days, and some folks claimed theirs came in just two or three.

You won’t be talking to a robot either; it’s mostly the owner who’ll sort out your questions and requests. What’s cool is that they’re pretty responsive, too!

As for the pricing, it can get a touch inconsistent. A few items are a steal, while others are best bought during discount season.

It would also be neat if they added colours or play areas to the showroom. It’s roomy, but the “warehouse” look isn’t really child-focused.

But hey, waiting for stocks is unlikely! The place is packed with a variety of toys, including large ones meant for the outdoors.

Pros

  • Quick delivery
  • Has a 24/7 online store
  • Huge inventory
  • Offers deals like bulk discounts
  • Also sells party supplies

Cons

  • Pricing can be inconsistent
  • Showroom lacks colours

Well-Organized

This place is a wonderful toy store with a great selection of toys for kids of all ages. The prices are very affordable, and my child really enjoyed exploring all the options. The store is clean and well-organized, making it easy to find what you’re looking for.

Conveniently located near IKEA and Courts, it’s a perfect spot for a quick family outing. I highly recommend visiting if you want quality toys without spending too much.

Highly Recommend for Teachers/Parents

Helpful staff and great in-store experience

Staff are extremely helpful and polite. Placed an online order to pick up in store and when I came, I was amused by the setup. Doesn’t look like a warehouse space at all. Ended up purchasing more on the spot.

Really highly recommend for teachers/parents to purchase toys from here as prices are way more affordable. Shopee is always an option, but why when you can actually come down to see the items with your own eyes and then make a decision. Highly recommend this space!

3. PlayHao

Address: 583 Orchard Rd, #02-15 Forum The Shopping Mall

Contact Details: +65 6592 0938

Operating Hours: Daily – 10 am to 7 pm

Website

If there’s one store I’d rather shop in person than online, it’s PlayHao. Enthusiastic, patient, and knowledgeable staff like Angie and Nora simply make physical shopping enjoyable.

Just ask the parents who frequent this spot. They’ll probably rave about the staff always guiding them in selecting developmentally beneficial and age-appropriate toys.

Not that it’s tough to choose. The store offers a curated lineup of award-winning brands that align with Montessori principles—think Magna Tiles, PlusPlus, and Cuburo.

Pricing isn’t bad either, but if you want the best rates, I suggest dropping by when a seasonal or clearance sale is on.

And bring your kiddos! The little ones are welcome to have a go with the toys on display, and they throw in “funcamps” now and then (why not visit a toy museum afterwards?).

Space, however, is tight, particularly next to the other options here. Being a crowd-favourite also makes that snag even trickier.

Pros

  • Hands-on in-store staff
  • Offers seasonal discounts
  • Award-winning toys and brands
  • Has special events
  • Encourages kids to play-test products

Cons

  • Can get busy
  • Smaller shop

Really Sincere People

I love playhao. The sales people I’ve encountered like Ms Nura and her son are very helpful and always willing to explain how a toy works and how it helps to stimulate children’s development. Not pushy at all and just really sincere people who are children at heart! There’s always a clearance rack or a sales period. The toys are awesome and helps my children to focus. My place to go to get magnetiles and aquarellum and so many other things I’ve discovered through this toy shop. The best place!

Will Definitely Return

Great curation of toys that helps children expand their creativity and soft skills! I was attended to by Kris (not sure if I spent her name correctly) and she did a wonderful job in recommending the first MagnaTile set for my daughter. Not only was she friendly and smiley, she was very patient, calm and passionate.

Will definitely return again to purchase gifts for birthdays and Christmas!

Operating Hours: Mon to Fri – 11 am to 5 pm

It’s super easy to find the right gift at Curated Cart. Despite being the newer kid on the block, their range is massive, with educational toys for children ages 0 to 12.

That’s made better by the same-day, next-day, and arranged delivery perks.

The owner deserves some props, too. If you need tips on topics like age-appropriateness or the benefits a certain toy brings, she’ll respond fast.

Her after-sales support is just as good. Item replacements are seamless, and sometimes, she’ll come over to your crib to swap it out.

I just wish they’d restock faster. A couple of products, especially for the older age groups, sell out fast.

Some weekend hours could really help out as well. Most competitors are open daily.

It would be best if the competitive rates stay steady, though. I’m hoping for the same when it comes to the discounts (I picked up a maze-like toy at 44% off!).

Pros

  • Wide range of toys for different age groups
  • Flexible delivery options
  • Offers massive discounts
  • Solid customer support
  • Has wrapping services

Cons

  • No weekend hours
  • Some items sell out fast

The shop owner responded promptly

We purchased a kitchen set from Curated Cart Singapore for my godson’s second birthday and discovered one of the straps was broken when we finally opened it about six weeks later. The shop owner responded promptly and even came personally to our home to replace the item. We truly appreciate her professionalism, dedication, and excellent customer service. Highly recommend Curated Cart Singapore for their quality products and outstanding after-sales support.

5. TOYTAG

Good luck not bulk-buying at TOYTAG. They have a huge collection of educational, safe, and sustainable toys, featuring renowned brands like Smartivity and Skillmatics.

The store is especially loved for board games and puzzles, and there are picks in the lineup that promote growth. My favourite is AniBlock, a STEM-based puzzle with brain-boosting perks.

And that’s barely the start! Musical, artistic, abstract, construction, engineering, and robotic/coding toys are on offer.

You can even grab them without going outside. TOYTAG’s rushed/same-day delivery is typically reliable, and it’s free for orders hitting the S$250 threshold.

Another bonus is the ability to pre-order popular items. Not every name here has that incentive.

That said, TOYTAG’s physical store shuts down on weekends, a bummer for customers who like in-person shopping.

Email responses could also take their sweet time. I recommend calling if you have concerns and can’t visit the place.

Pros

  • Award-winning toys and brands
  • Wide range of toys
  • Allows pre-orders
  • Often throws events (including educational ones)
  • Flexible delivery options

Cons

  • Weekend closure
  • Email response speed isn’t the fastest

Excellent Customer Service

Bought cycling helmets here and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and patient, taking the time to help me adjust the helmets for a perfect fit. Excellent customer service!

An Enjoyable Time

Felt like I’m entering a board game cafe, that’s the level of service standards and experience for you. Definitely an enjoyable time, patient and passionate owner. Confusing place to find, look for the law firm and you’ll find Solo 1 where they are located. Hopefully my students enjoy the games, cheers.
