5 Best DJ Lessons in Singapore by the Real Deals
I’ve always wanted to drop beats instead of dropping my phone all the time, so signing up for DJ lessons felt like the perfect start. Turns out, mixing tracks is way harder than mixing Milo and kopi.
Luckily, I found schools that can make wannabes like me sound halfway decent, from scratching vinyl to layering digital sets. So if you’ve ever wanted to trade Spotify playlists for actual decks, here’s where to start spinning.
How much do DJ lessons cost in Singapore?
In the Lion City, DJ lessons typically cost S$48 per hour for private sessions, while structured courses range higher, about S$660 for a 6-lesson basic course at Ministry of DJs, or S$1,550 for an 8-session advanced DJ live course in other studios.
1. Ministry of DJs

Address: 6 Claymore Hill (Off Orchard Road, Claymore Plaza)
Contact: +6597488811
Hours: Daily, 11 AM–10 PM
I signed up at Ministry of DJs because its instructors actually play in clubs, not just classrooms. It feels legit learning beat matching from someone who headlines weekends.
The studio is fully kitted with Pioneer CDJs, mixers, and a sound system loud enough to feel every drop. There are no toy controllers here, just real gear you’d find in a booth.
The course I took covered essentials like EQing and transitions before moving to scratching and layering sets. The pacing made it easy to pick up, even if you’ve never touched decks.
What I liked most was the performance focus; students actually get chances to play live, not just practice in an enclosed space. It made me feel like I’m training for the real thing.
The downside? Courses aren’t cheap at S$660 for six lessons, and scheduling slots fill up quickly, as it’s a popular studio. If you’re after casual, low-cost lessons, this might feel too intense.
Instructor Kennerve is very knowledgeable
Came to sharpen my beginner DJ skills, got the chance to finally practice mixing on the industry-standard equipment. Instructor Kennerve is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I always enjoy coming to the studio to practice mixing on the decks. I’m super grateful there’s such a place for me to practice such a niche craft.

The lesson timings are flexible and easy to arrange
My husband and I took up the beginner DJ course with Effen at Ministry of DJ, and we had a great time! The whole team was super responsive from enrolling us, answering questions, to setting up our lesson sessions! The lesson timings are flexible and easy to arrange. Effen also took time to understand what we were looking for to better make use of the lessons. It was definitely an eye-opener learning about what goes on behind the scenes, and we have so much respect for DJs everywhere! Overall, we’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking to become a DJ or just to pick up a new hobby (like us!).

2. ShowNing DJ Lab

Address: 465 Northbridge Road 02
Contact: +6583487268
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 11 AM–10 PM
Saturday, 11 AM–7 PM
Sunday, 12.30–5 PM
My best pal and I turned up at ShowNing DJ Lab one day because we wanted something more than YouTube tutorials. We promised ourselves we’d actually get the hands-on stuff.
The instructors, like DJ toMW and its founder toMU, have legit competition credits (World Top 20, DMC, and Red Bull), so teaching comes with real-stage wisdom.
The studio setup is clean, with full decks, solid controllers, and weekly slots that can be flexibly booked. Lessons are mostly 45 minutes per session, and if you commit, there are long-term courses like Jr., Middle High, and Master School.
We liked that the instructors offer both affordable trial lessons and structured packages. In one of the beginner 4-lesson options, a private off-peak hour is about S$255, a group of 2 costs S$155 per person, and a group of 3 is S$130 per person.
They also let students perform live and use AI tools for visuals or stage presence when they get more advanced.
The instructors’ teaching style goes beyond “press play and fade” and focuses more on pushing us toward real DJ nights and how to move an audience.
Our only issues with this studio? It can get pricey once you move beyond trial or beginner group lessons, as private and off-peak prices add up. Also, performance opportunities may have extra terms or conditions that have to be met.
He really makes you ready & gives you the confidence to play at gigs
Got the start on my DJ-ing journey here at Showning! I have learnt from Tomu for about a year & I have to say he really makes you ready & gives you the confidence to play at gigs! What I really appreciate about learning here is also the networking & being able to play at events organised by Showning & Tomu himself. I think giving the students the opportunity to play live at such events sets us up for success & also helps us gain exposure! I would highly recommend learning here!

Tomu-san is a phenomenal instructor
It’s been 3+ years learning from Tomu-san, and I started as a complete beginner. What sets ShowNing DJ Lab apart is its well-structured curriculum that builds my DJ skills from the ground up. Tomu-san is a phenomenal instructor – not only is he super knowledgeable about all aspects of DJing and music, but his creative insights and engaging teaching style make every session a joy!

3. POP Studio Academy

Address: 126 Joo Seng Rd, #01-04 Gold Pine Industrial Building
Contact: +6597669493
Hours: Daily, noon–11 PM
If you want to go beyond cookie-cutter beat-matching tutorials, try enrolling at POP Studio Academy. It’s a place that breathes music production, with instructors who are legit music makers, not just DJs who teach.
They know Ableton, Logic, live instruments, and DJ mixing. Their DJ mixing courses cover all levels, from Intro to DJ Mixing, through Basic to Advanced, with hands-on sessions on industry gear and software.
The production side isn’t an afterthought, either, with workshops like “Intro to Production” and “Produce Your First Track,” allowing students to learn DJing and making tracks without switching schools.
I took a trial DJ mixing intro (solo). It was around S$68 for 1 pax, and just around S$240 for 4 pax. The demo felt generous, getting to touch the decks, using Rekordbox, mixing by ear, and exploring track structure.
It’s the place to be for wannabe DJs wanting a supportive vibe and encouragement to play and experiment. However, prices rise quickly beyond trial/group sizes, and private sessions will significantly cost more.
Offers a fresh perspective on DJ-ing that truly enhances the learning experience
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to take a DJ course with Ashe. His extensive experience and unique teaching style made the sessions both insightful and inspiring. Ashe doesn’t follow the conventional teaching methods, but instead offers a fresh perspective on DJ-ing that truly enhances the learning experience. There’s so much to gain from his deep understanding of the craft, and his approach is genuinely one-of-a-kind. If you’re someone who wants to truly grasp what DJ-ing is all about, I highly recommend taking this course. It offers a unique, invaluable experience, and the instructor is truly a gem in the DJ community!

4. Hustle Singapore

Address: 111 Somerset Rd, #02-12/13
Contact: +6562350533
Hours: Daily, 9 AM–6 PM
The cost structure at Hustle Singapore is steeper than most at S$872 for the full fee, so I was initially intimidated.
However, with SkillsFuture subsidies (if you’re eligible), you can bring it down significantly. An acquaintance paid around S$472 after baseline funding.
He walked into the “DJ Sound Mixing/Professional Sound Mixing” workshop because he wanted something more formal and structured than messing around with apps.
He came out knowing proper beat matching, harmonic mixing, transitions, and using real gear.
That piqued me, so I signed up for the workshop myself. The instructors pushed both technical precision and performance readiness on us.
We didn’t just learn how to match beats, but we also got into playlist building, audio levelling, using effects, scratching, and even legal/business aspects like licensing.
The mix between practice and theory is well-balanced, as we got to spend time on real equipment and real mixing challenges, not just slides.
The downside? If you’re not eligible for SkillsFuture or subsidies, the fee feels steep for a non-intensive course, so the cost can be a huge barrier.
An amazing 2 days filled with fun knowledge
Attended a 2 days Sound Mixing course, it was an amazing 2 days filled with fun knowledge. Trainer Zulhilmi was awesome, making the class fun, entertaining and engaging. Kudos to the team at Hustle Singapore for making it a wonderful experience from the registration process right up to the end of the course!

5. TINC DJ Academy

Address: Oxley BizHub, 65 Ubi Rd 1
Contact: +6588041772
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11 AM–5 PM
I already knew DJ Tinc had chops (she was the first DJ to perform at Singapore’s National Day Parade), so I rolled up to TINC DJ Academy because I wanted legit lessons from the real deal.
I like the layout of the courses: group class (Hustlers) is for beginners learning about beat matching, hardware/software basics and music structure; then 1-on-1 TailorMade and Advance TailorMade are for refining transitions, creative mashups, and building personal style.
The Mentorship Program kicks in for those aiming for gigs, portfolio building, and live performance under direct guidance from DJ Tinc. This means there’s a ladder up for aspiring mixmasters like me, and not just dead-end lessons.
They didn’t just give us decks and leave us there; we learned EQ, looping, cueing, effects, transitions, building our personal music library, plus tips on performance confidence.
The facilities included industry-standard hardware/software, practice rooms, equipment rental, and studio access in 2 locations (which meant I could still work after class).
However, if you’re far away from either Taiseng and Bukit Merah, where the studios are located, getting to regular lessons on time can be a hassle.
The lessons are well-structured yet flexible,
Tinc Music is an amazing place to learn! The teachers are patient, passionate, and really know how to make music fun and engaging. They don’t just teach the notes — they inspire creativity and confidence in every student. The lessons are well-structured yet flexible, so whether you’re a beginner or already experienced, you’ll always feel supported and challenged. A great environment to grow musically and enjoy the journey!
