Slither your way into the Lunar New Year with our top CNY menu picks!

Chinese New Year is my favourite time to enjoy dishes symbolizing joy and luck, and this year, Singapore’s dining scene shines with luxurious menus and take-home feasts. Here are some of my favourite CNY menus!

YÀN

If you’re planning your celebrations, let me tell you about one spot you won’t want to miss—YÀN. What I love about this Cantonese restaurant is its ability to combine authenticity with a touch of festive opulence.

Running from January 6 to February 12, 2025, YÀN is offering six curated set menus, delightful à la carte dishes, and even take-home feasts that make hosting at home a breeze.

One standout on its menu is the braised chicken and pumpkin broth with fish maw and conpoy. This golden-hued soup is a true labour of love, simmered for hours to achieve a rich, velvety texture that feels like a warm hug in a bowl.

YÀN’s Harvest Pen Cai, packed with 18 premium ingredients like abalone and prawns, is perfect for celebrating at home. The place also offers six set menus (S$138++ to S$288++) with a one-day advance notice required for Golden Treasures and January 6–12 bookings.

Tablescape Restaurant & Bar

This CNY, Tablescape Restaurant & Bar impresses with a Modern European twist on festive dishes, blending tradition and innovation for home or dining out. Its curated takeaway menu is available from January 8 to February 9.

I’m excited to try the Tablescape seafood yusheng (S$188 nett, serves 10), a stunning snake-shaped platter featuring grilled octopus, local lobster, and sashimi of maguro and salmon.

Now, if hosting feels overwhelming, the Tablescape Prosperity Set is a game-changer. Priced at S$299 nett for 4–6 pax and S$428 nett for 6–8 pax, it includes festive favourites like prosperity yusheng, honey soya sauce chicken, and lotus leaf fried rice for an effortless feast.

Shisen Hanten

Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro, a Michelin-starred restaurant led by a third-generation master of Chūka Szechwan Ryori, masterfully combines the boldness of Chinese Szechwan cuisine with the precision of Japanese techniques.

For this Chinese New Year, its highlight is the Shisen Hanten Abundant Fortune Pot (S$518+), featuring pork knuckle, roasted duck, abalone, scallops, prawns, and sea cucumber, all slow-cooked to perfection.

What’s more, each Abundant Fortune Pot includes a complimentary salmon yusheng, wok-fried glutinous rice with Chinese sausage and sakura shrimp, and a jar of the signature chilli sauce!

Pre-order your feast starting from 31 December 2024 for delivery or self-collection between 12 January and 12 February 2025. Remember, orders require a 3-day advance notice.

Chopsuey Cafe

From January 20 to February 12, 2025, Chopsuey Cafe in Dempsey Hill is serving its Joyous Reunion Set Menu, alongside à la carte dishes and a specially curated vegetarian selection for those avoiding meat.

I love how the menu balances indulgence with thoughtful variety. The mains are truly standout dishes, with choices like sizzling steamed whole fish, which is rich and flavorful, and the crispy orange Kurobuta pork, a perfect mix of tangy and savoury.

Chopsuey Cafe doesn’t stop at the mains. The starters and sides are just as delightful, and the meal wraps up beautifully with a sweet golden pineapple tart, adding a classic Lunar New Year touch to the feast.
