The striking yellow structure in East Coast Park was built as a navigational aid along Singapore’s coastline. Over the years, it has gained a reputation for its haunting history, including an unsolved murder which has cemented its place as both a picturesque and mysterious landmark.

In 1990, a young couple was brutally attacked at Amber Beacon Tower, resulting in the tragic death of a woman while her companion survived. The case remains unsolved, with no clear suspects identified, adding an eerie aura to the tower’s legacy and fueling its reputation as a haunted site.

How to Get There

Closest MRT and bus station: Take the East-West Line to Bedok Station (EW5). From there, transfer to Bus 31 or 196, which will take you to the bus stop opposite Amber Gardens. A short walk through the underpass will lead you directly to East Coast Park, where the tower is located. 

By car: For visitors arriving by car, Carpark C1 in East Coast Park is the most convenient parking option for accessing Amber Beacon Tower. Located near the tower, this car park offers ample space and is just a short walk away. 

Additionally, there are designated drop-off points within the park, allowing for easy access to the tower and surrounding amenities.

Climbing the spiral staircase at Amber Beacon Tower was like stepping into another world. Each creak of the steps added to the suspense. The eerie silence was broken only by the occasional gust of wind, making me glance over my shoulder more than once.

Go ghost hunting

Ghost hunting at Amber Beacon Tower was both thrilling and unsettling. I swear my pals and I heard faint whispers in the breeze as we circled the base of the tower! 

We half expected to glimpse a figure in the darkness. It was an experience that lingered long after we left.

Have an eerie picnic nearby and tell scary stories

Having a picnic near the tower at dusk was a mix of serene and spooky. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet meal if you don’t mind the occasional unexplained rustle. 

Pack light and bring a flashlight if you’re staying past sunset. And don’t forget to clean up thoroughly; the last thing you want is a ghostly guest drawn by leftover crumbs!
