A Guide Light to Night 2025, Singapore’s Dazzling Arts Festival

Light to Night 2025

Where: 17 January to 6 February 2025

When: Civic District

Every January, I eagerly mark my calendar for Light to Night, and 2025’s lineup promises to be unforgettable. From 17 January to 6 February, this annual arts festival will transform Singapore’s Civic District into a stunning tapestry of light, sound, and creativity.

The festival’s installations, projections, and activities span iconic landmarks like the National Gallery Singapore, The Arts House, and the Asian Civilisations Museum.

The best part? Admission is free for most events, though a few ticketed programs offer even more interactive fun.

This year’s theme, “Do You See Me?” is an exploration of identity, diversity, and belonging. It’s a chance to reflect on what makes us who we are while enjoying captivating art installations, immersive experiences, and unique performances.

This year, the National Gallery Singapore will extend its opening hours to 11 PM on weekends, giving you a rare chance to experience its exhibitions after dark.

Here’s my take on what to expect and how to make the most of it.

  • Return to Paradise (Play) (17 Jan–28 Feb)

Relive the nostalgia of the early 2000s with this installation at Funan. From flip phones to MP3 players and colourful Rochor flats, it’s a heartfelt throwback to Singapore’s Y2K era.

Prepare for mind-bending reflections at ACM Green, where a two-way mirror installation creates infinite versions of yourself. It’s immersive, mesmerising, and downright magical!

  • Plan your route: Start at the National Gallery and work your way around the Civic District to maximise your experience.
  • Go off-peak: Visit on a Monday or Tuesday evening for fewer crowds.
  • Wear comfy shoes: You’ll be walking a lot, and the ground might be damp if it rains.
  • Pack a raincoat: Better than juggling an umbrella and your camera.
  • Bring some cash: While most vendors accept cashless payments, it’s handy for smaller purchases.
