The Best Stationery Shops in Singapore That Make My Journaling-Loving Heart Sing

I’ve always loved to journal. I keep many with different themes: the traditional one where I plan out my weeks and days, another one to keep track of books I’ve read, and another one for movies, shows, and video games.

Because of this, I’m always in need of journaling supplies like notebooks, pens, stickers, and more. Fortunately, there are many stationery shops in Singapore—both online and physical stores—so I don’t really have to worry about this.

After several years of journaling and shopping for supplies, here are my favorites that I’ll always recommend to other people.

The Paper Bunny

Address: 391 Orchard Rd, #B2-12, Ngee Ann City

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 9:30 pm

Contact Number: +6580233455

Website

Located in one of the most popular shopping malls on Orchard Road, The Paper Bunny is actually more well-known as a bag store, but it also has an impressive collection of stationery, especially planners, notebooks, and greeting cards.

I’m quite fond of the notebooks because they have a simple yet elegant look. Most of them are ring-bound with debossed fabric hardcover—so fancy! Plus, the paper is perfectly thick, so the ink from your pen or highlighter will never bleed through.

Aside from notebooks, I also like to get their desk planners because they always have cute artwork.

Pro Tip:

  • Look out for sales on their website!

Smiggle

Address: 2 Orchard Turn, Unit#B2 – 55, ION Orchard

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm

Contact Number: +6565090704

Website

Smiggle is another lifestyle store that offers a wide variety of products, including stationery.

Of course, I always check out the notebooks first, and I love how they look whimsical. Usually, the cover is in pastel colors and features majestic creatures like unicorns. Some notebooks even have fluffy covers like they’re stuffed toys!

The whimsical theme also applies to pens and pencils. The tip is always something cute (like the face of an adorable animal). Sometimes, it even lights up!

Pro Tip:

  • Don’t know where to get your first stationery purchase? You might want to get any of Smiggle’s bundle kits since they include the essentials (notebook and pens).

Art Friend

Art Friend has been catering to artists—both professional and hobbyist—since the 1980s, so it’s not a surprise this shop has become a go-to for many crafters and journal lovers.

You can find many high-quality pens and colored pencils here, which is great if you like to draw in your journal. There are even different kinds of paint available as well if you’re really great at this stuff.

I also really like that they have craft materials like feathers, felt, and stickers. Sometimes, I get into a creative mood with my journal spreads, so I appreciate that this store always has the things I’m looking for.

Pro Tip:

  • If you purchase from the website, you can enjoy free delivery if you spend at least S$100.

Overjoyed Art Store

Address: 8 Grange Rd, #B1-02 Ceineleisure

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10:30 am to 8:30 pm

Website

Overjoyed is another store that’s popular among artists and creatives, but there are also stationery products available here.

I love getting their soft-cover notebooks because they look so simple and pretty, and they look nice on my desk. The paper is also thick, which is always a plus in my book.

I also love stocking up on their sticky notes because they always feature the prettiest artwork (usually, flowers and other nature-themed). Because of this, the notes can double as decoration for my journal!

Pro Tips:

  • Overjoyed often hosts creative workshops like illustration classes and beginner lessons on pyrography (wood-burning). These are fun, and you can also apply the skills you’ve learned in your journaling or scrapbooking.
  • The website offers flash sales every now and then!

I also like to get other crafting items like twines and stickers just in case I’m in the mood to go over the top with my spread layout.

Are you looking for office and school supplies? This place has got you covered as well! They have everything you need—from files and folders to cardboards and different types of paper!

Pro Tip:

  • Keep your eyes on their online store for sales

PaperMarket

Address: 1 Kim Seng Promenade, #01-120 Great World

PaperMarket is the store for crafters and journal lovers who prefer the cutesy and whimsical aesthetic. Their products tend to be boldly colorful and with art that makes you go, “Awwww” (e.g., adorable puppies and butterflies on the cover).

Personally, I love coming here for scrapbooking supplies. They have a nice variety of patterned papers and cardstock that work well with my vision. Pretty scrapbook albums are also available here, so sometimes, I end up purchasing one (or two) as well.

Other stationery items you can find here include washi tapes, notebooks, and even designer stationery (e.g., brands like Fox and Fallow and Ban.do).

Pro Tip:

  • This store sells DIY craft kits, which are perfect for people new to crafting/journaling/scrapbooking. These are also great gifts for people who love this hobby.

UrbanWrite

  • Monday to Thursday—11 am to 9:30 pm
  • Friday to Sunday—11 am to 10 pm

Contact Number: +6567025011

Website

Located in Singapore’s eastern side, UrbanWrite is actually a subset of Popular, a popular (heh) bookstore in Singapore. But instead of selling books, this store offers an impressive array of stationery supplies.

I love getting stickers here because they’re always so cute. The washi tapes are pretty as well, so I end up stocking a lot of them whenever I visit.

When I have extra money to splurge, I like to get any of their leather notebooks (they feel so good to touch!) and fountain pens.

Pro Tip:

  • Don’t miss the sales on Popular’s website!

Typo

Address: Shop B2-18, ION Orchard Shopping Centre, 2 Orchard Turn

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm

Contact Number: +6566341082

Website

Typo is a lifestyle brand that offers a variety of goods (bags and clothes are the most popular), but personally, I think their stationery products are the main highlight.

Their notebooks are ring-bound, which isn’t normally my preference (I like the leatherbound ones more), but I still get them because they’re pretty sturdy. They’re perfect for note-taking and brainstorming ideas.

I also like their pencil cases here. There are different kinds available, but all of them are spacious enough to contain many pens and pencils. Plus, some of them have beautiful patterned artwork, and I’m always a sucker for pretty art.

Pro Tip:

  • Sometimes, the store holds special promotions like buy 1, get 1 50% off for their notebooks and 3 for S$5 for their pens!

Cat Socrates

Address: 448 Joo Chiat Rd

Operating Hours

  • Monday—10 am to 6 pm
  • Tuesday to Friday—10 am to 7 pm
  • Saturday—10 am to 8 pm
  • Sunday—11 am to 7 pm

Contact Number: +6563480863

Website

I came across Cat Socrates when I explored Joo Chiat for the first time, and now I always find excuses to return to this store. This hidden gem is stocked with all the cutest items (many of them with adorable cat designs), so how can I not come back?

The notebooks here sport the unique Peranakan-style patterned tiles, and since they have a fabric cover, they feel soft to the touch. I also like how inside, there are lined and blank pages, so I can jot down notes and doodle at the same time.

The washi tapes are a must-buy for me. They have Joo Chiat’s colorful shophouses as the main design, and I love that.

Pro Tips:

  • This shop is pretty small, so it’s not wheelchair-accessible.  True to its name, this shop actually has a cat named Zoo-zoo. Feel free to pet it when you see it!

Krafers’ Paradise

Address: 180 Kitchener Rd, #04 – 19 / 20 / 21, City Square Mall

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 9:30 pm

Contact Number: +6568849986

Website

Operating since 2008, Krafers’ Paradise is undoubtedly a paradise for artists and creatives. This store is best known for selling premium brands of art and crafting materials, so expect to be spending a lot when shopping here.

I’m getting into calligraphy, and this shop has the coveted Marvy Uchida pens that my fellow hobbyist calligraphers keep recommending to me. There are also many acrylic markers available, which I love to get for my doodles.

For scrapbooking, I always stock up on craft and crepe papers and washi tapes.

Pro Tip:

  • One downside I find about this shop is that it’s not very organized. Fortunately, you can always ask the staff for help whenever you’re looking for something in particular.

Jovial Crafts

Address: 231 Bain St, #02-91, Bras Basah Complex

Operating Hours

  • Tuesday to Saturday—11 am to 7:30 pm
  • Sunday—2:30 to 7:30 pm

Website

Jovial is exactly the vibe you’ll get when you step into Jovial Crafts. Everywhere you look, you’ll find products with lovely, watercolor-like art front and center.

I’m personally a big fan of the weekly planners. They’re usually adorned with cute floral art, and seeing the bright colors motivates me to plan out my day and scratch out all the things on my to-do list.

I also like getting their notebooks, which is where I usually brainstorm random things. The paper is thick, so I also end up using the notebook as a sketchbook.

Pro Tip:

  • If you order through the website, you can actually customize your notebook by having your name or other words embossed on the cover.

Muji

Address: 68 Orchard Rd, #01-10 to 22, Plaza Singapura

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm

Contact Number: +6562645838

Website

Muji is a beloved Japanese lifestyle shop. It also sells a wide variety of stationery items!

What I love about them is their minimalism. The notebooks are no-frills, but the paper quality is top-notch! I also like that they have loose-leaf options because sometimes, I like to keep using what I have.

I love getting pens here as well. I only have to buy the pen once because I can keep the shell and just purchase refill ink from here on out. It’s so convenient and environmentally friendly too since I’m not throwing out unnecessary waste.

Pro Tip:

LINEAE

Website

LINEAE is an online store with stationery items that look like they’re taken straight from the past. They just have that classic old-school feel that draws me in.

My favorite products so far have been the notebooks with artwork of a beloved city etched on the cover. They also have bespoke letterpress notepads that are too beautiful to be used, so I still have them on my shelf untouched.

Pro Tip:

  • This store sells bundles and sets (usually notebooks and pens) that are perfect as gifts to someone who’s into journaling as much as you.
