How We’ll Observe Hari Raya Haji This 2025
WHEN: Saturday, 7 June 2025
Every Hari Raya Haji, my family and I are reminded of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith, especially in his readiness to sacrifice his son in complete obedience to Allah’s command.
This story is not just history for us. It’s a lesson in trust, submission, and the meaning of true sacrifice.
As Muslims, we commemorate this day by dressing in our best, performing congregational prayers, and taking part in the korban ritual. The sacrifice of livestock is not merely symbolic; it reflects our willingness to give up what’s dear to us for the sake of God.

After morning prayers, many of us gather to witness or participate in the korban (ritual sacrifice). The meat is divided into three parts: one for the individual or the family, one for relatives and friends, and one for those in need.
It’s not about the act itself, but the intention behind it. It’s a powerful reminder of generosity and social responsibility. Through this, we honour Ibrahim’s devotion, deepen our connection with Allah, and care for our community.
Where to Join in Worship
Hari Raya Haji is a time when the ummah gathers in unity at mosques across Singapore. These places of worship are where we reflect, pray, and stand shoulder to shoulder as one.

Hari Raya Haji also marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage. As a Muslim, I feel a deep sense of connection to those who are in Mecca completing this pillar of Islam.
The rituals of Hajj follow the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and those who are able are required to perform it at least once in their lifetime.
For those of us at home in Singapore, our prayers are with the pilgrims. Their journey reminds us of our ultimate destination: returning to Allah with a heart full of faith.
