5 Best Support Services for Children with Learning Difficulties in Singapore

✔ Qualified specialists - We looked for centres with trained staff who understand learning disabilities like dyslexia, ADHD, or autism, and tailor strategies accordingly.

✔ Customised support plans -  We rejected one-size-fits-all programs and looked into those adjusted to our child’s pace, strengths, and challenges.

✔ Clear communication - We welcome regular updates and honest feedback from therapists or educators, so we’re not left guessing how our child is doing.

✔ Parental involvement - We searched for centres that can guide us as parents, too, through workshops, progress reviews, or home strategies.

When my daughter was first diagnosed with learning difficulties, I had no idea where to begin or whom to trust. I spent months combing through reviews, asking other parents, and visiting centres to find what truly worked.

This review is a result of all that legwork. These places offer some of the best support services for children with learning difficulties in Singapore. If you’re in the same boat as me, I hope this saves you time and gives you some peace of mind.

How much do support services for children with learning difficulties cost in Singapore?

When we first started, I didn’t expect how fast the costs would pile up. Some centres already charge around S$2,400 for assessments, though subsidies starting at 33% are available.

Therapy and tuition can range from S$70 to S$120 an hour, so if financial aid is available (such as at DAS and SSCC), I highly suggest looking into it.

1. The Gifted Lab Pte Ltd

Address: 7 One-North Gtwy, #01-16
Contact: +6565920241
Hours: By appointment

After researching various support services, The Gifted Lab stood out to us for its comprehensive assessments and tailored programs. Its academic programs are a bit costly at S$70 to $75 per session, but I find them a good investment, nonetheless.

For starters, its team is led by experienced professionals. Its services range from cognitive assessments to educational coaching, with special catering to children with diverse learning needs.

The centre also emphasises personalised support, so I’m reassured that my child will receive interventions suited to her unique challenges. I like that this approach fosters a collaborative environment that involves parents like me to maximise effectiveness.

The downside is that assessments already cost around S$800 at The Gifted Lab, and the programs’ cost will depend on the child’s education level. Still, I think this centre is worth a visit if only for the personalised approach and expertise of its staff.

Pros

  • Experienced staff
  • Focus on individualised support
  • Service includes assessment and coaching

Cons

  • Services are strictly by appointment
  • Slightly costlier per-session programs

Professionally guided our son through the IQ test

Ms. Ho professionally guided our son through the IQ test and attention screening. She provided insightful feedback, which helped us understand his strengths and weaknesses much better. I found great value in consulting Ms. Ho. Now that we have a clearer understanding of our son’s potential, we are better equipped to support him in reaching it. Highly recommend it!

The assessment for my child is so detailed

I was referred to Giftedlab at their Bt Timah location years ago and followed them to One North. Dr Chan and Polene, and Tr. Jac are some of the kindest people I know. Dr Chan’s assessment and report for my child is so detailed as compared to public hospitals’- I almost cried when I saw the effort put in for my child. There is a reason why so many kids stayed with them for years! I like to think we are friends instead of clients by now.

2. Care Corner Singapore

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM–6 PM

I looked into Care Corner Singapore because I wanted something structured yet affordable, and its Learning Support Intervention program impressed me. It’s geared for kids aged 7 to 12 years old with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and similar challenges.

Each class has just three students, so my child won’t be lost in a crowd; plus, the curriculum aligns with MOE standards. The S$50 assessment and the S$300 monthly fee felt manageable, especially with trained specialists guiding the sessions.

What I appreciated most about this centre was how involved it keeps the parents. The staff gives progress updates and is open to feedback.

It’s worth checking out for affordable support and solid teaching. However, slots can be hard to secure because of the small class sizes, and the centres aren’t in every neighbourhood, so accessibility could be an issue for those living elsewhere.

Pros

  • Affordable fees
  • Smaller, more focused classes
  • Special education-trained staff
  • Emphasis on parental involvement

Cons

  • Limited slots due to small group size
  • Some services are available only in specific locations

The teachers are super kind and funny

I go to this student care, and the teachers are super kind and funny, and they have workbooks and board games.

I got to know many friends over here

I was an ex-student of Care Corner, and the experience was good. And I even got to know many friends over here, when I was at the down point. Miss Olivia Ho was the one who lifted me up and gave me positive energy and vibes. Likewise, the teachers there are attentive and caring, too. The atmosphere at Care Corner is something that I have never experienced before. I get to learn Lion Dance with my bunch of friends and even get to perform in public.

Rainbow Centre Singapore offers a good range of services for children with moderate to severe disabilities, including autism and multiple challenges. I looked into it because I wanted a place that could support my daughter’s complex learning needs.

It has three campuses: Margaret Drive, Yishun Park, and Admiral Hill, with each offering tailored special education and early intervention programs. But its overall approach is holistic, combining therapy, life skills, and education with emphasis on inclusion and independence.

I appreciate that the centre involves families in the process and provides structured support from early childhood to young adulthood. However, its programs are primarily for children with more significant support needs, so it might not suit those with milder learning difficulties.

It’s also a government-funded SPED school, which means placements require MOE referral, which could eat up a lot of your time.

Pros

  • Structured, long-term support for kids with moderate to severe disabilities
  • MOE-recognised SPED school
  • Multiple campuses
  • Strong emphasis on parental involvement and inclusive practices

Cons

  • Requires MOE referral for enrolment
  • Limited slots and long waitlists
  • Not a walk-in service

Contact: +6569092170
Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 9 AM–6 PM
  • Saturday, 9 AM–noon

I came across Bridging the Gap while searching for early intervention centres that offer a comprehensive approach to supporting children with learning difficulties. It provides a range of services, including speech therapy and educational therapy under one roof.

I like its emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each child receives tailored support across various developmental areas. It also has a team of early intervention educators and therapists to address the unique needs of each child.

However, it’s worth noting that, as a private centre, the costs of its services (starting at S$4,000 for a 12-week comprehensive program) are higher than those of government-subsidised options.

Additionally, while it offers a broad range of services, slot availability can be limited due to high demand. Overall, though, Bridging the Gap is a dedicated centre for families seeking all-aspects intervention services in Singapore.

Pros

  • Inclusive approach
  • Comprehensive services
  • Tailored support for each child

Cons

  • Higher costs
  • Limited availability

BTG is a great early intervention centre with amazing teachers

BTG is a great early intervention centre with amazing teachers who are very dedicated to their job. You can see their passion for children, and they are genuine in helping all the special needs children. My daughter has been attending BTG for about 1.5 years now. She has made a lot of improvements in terms of speech, motor skills, behaviour and many more. She always looks forward to her classes at BTG. Whenever she is unwell, she will feel sad just because she is unable to attend class. That’s how much she loves going to BTG! Highly recommend BTG if you’re looking for an early intervention centre!

This is a centre that strikes a chord with us parents

BTG is not a centre that stops at the children. It involves the family. From celebrations, weekly HW for the children, and even inviting siblings to activities, this is a centre that strikes a chord with us parents since intervention involves everyone in the circle of the child. My dear son is always greeted so endearingly by every teacher when he comes for lessons. With his developmental delays, he finds it hard to take a liking to a lot of things, but coming to BTG is one of the few things he loves.

5. All Hands Together

Website
Address: 396 Joo Chiat Place

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM

My research brought me to All Hands Together, and its personalised approach to supporting children with learning difficulties. It was founded by two mothers, which made me more impressed with the centre.

It offers a range of programs, including early intervention, life skills training, and inclusive playgroups, all tailored to each child’s unique needs. What stood out to me was its commitment to multi-sensorial learning experiences involving the child’s family.

Moreover, its low teacher-to-student ratio ensures individualised attention for each child. It is worth noting, though, that as a private institution, the costs are higher than government-supported services.

It’s a good thing AHT also offers life skills and sports camps (S$750 for a 5-day session) and an early intervention camp (S$500 for a 3-day session) for those who want to test the waters first.

Pros

  • Small class sizes
  • Strong family involvement
  • Personalised learning approach

Cons

  • Potential waitlist
  • High private centre costs

Customer Reviews

The sense of community is evident every morning

All Hands Together is a wonderfully warm, inclusive and safe environment for children to learn and grow. We have had a fantastic experience there, especially because the teachers are clearly engaged, accessible and incredibly supportive. The sense of community is evident every morning, as the children are greeted by name at the door – so different to the bigger, anonymous school environments! We are delighted we found AHT and can’t recommend it highly enough, particularly for children who haven’t thrived in large classrooms or who might benefit from a little extra support and understanding.

The learning environment is one of nurture and caring

My son started at All Hands Together when he was 3. He was given the care and support that he needed, and we started to see him grow and thrive. The learning environment is one of nurture and caring, each child is supported, and we parents are too. All Hands Together is a community that makes each feel valued and celebrated, no matter what the learning needs are. As a parent, I felt like I could ask them anything, and the teachers and support team always had time for me. A wonderful, inclusive school.
