WHEN: 31 May 2025 to 29 March 2026, 10 AM to 7 PM

WHERE: National Gallery Singapore, 1 St. Andrews Road

FEES: Free for all visitors, including international guests

If your idea of a great kids’ day out involves creativity, colour, and conversation starters, then Gallery Children’s Biennale 2025 at the National Gallery is a must-visit.

Themed “Tomorrow We’ll Be…,” the fifth edition coincides with the Gallery’s 10th anniversary, and Singapore’s 60th birthday, and features eight interactive art installations that invite children to dream, question, and connect.

Here are some pieces we’re particularly looking forward to!

Sit among friends in I We Them by Vicente Delgado

Kids are invited to step into a cosy, character-filled space designed by Singapore-based Spanish artist Vicente Delgado. Inspired by the humble chair, the installation explores how seating brings people together, be it for family meals or heartfelt conversations.

Delgado is a Lasalle lecturer known to many as “Tito,” who wants kids to feel joy, love, and belonging in his immersive, seat-filled wonderland.

Expect whimsical animal and human figures, a toddler-friendly play zone with spinning wheels and puzzles, a large inflatable hand for high-fives, and a playmat for babies!

Find calm in colour at Kindness Garden by Hiromi Tango

– Media from thenewageparents

In a quiet nook of the gallery, Japanese-Australian artist Hiromi Tango’s Kindness Garden blooms in soft pastel metal petals. Look closer and you’ll find words like love, gentle, and grace etched on each one, along with their Braille equivalents.

Designed to encourage empathy and emotional literacy, the installation includes sensory elements like touch-friendly textures, calming domes for overstimulated children, and an ambient soundscape to soothe.

It’s a safe, inclusive space for all ages, including babies, to explore what kindness feels like.

Step into a dream with Fantasy by Co2_karbondioksida

– Media from co2_karbondioksida

Artists Celine Tan and Oscar Lee, the Malaysian duo behind Co2_karbondioksida, transform a corridor into a dreamy softscape of suspended toys and repurposed children’s clothes. Kids and parents alike are invited to remove their shoes, lie back, and reflect.

The space is wrapped in soft flooring and cushions made from about 130 kg of donated baby clothes, including pieces from the artists’ own child. Beyond its tactile appeal, the work gently critiques overconsumption and encourages creative upcycling.

It’s part playroom, part message board, and entirely unforgettable!

Some installations will literally turn movement into artwork, so children can dance and watch their motions become abstract paintings in real time. The kids are encouraged to ask questions, make connections, and follow their curiosity.

As the artists of the Gallery Children’s Biennale 2025 show, imagination is not only valid but vital. In the world of Tomorrow We’ll Be…, every child’s voice, movement, and touch can shape the story.
