No Sun? No Problem! The 12 Best Indoor Activities for Kids in Singapore

When the heat outside feels unbearable or rain clouds are looming, my family can always rely on some of the Lion City’s indoor kid-friendly spots. One Saturday can turn into a full day of fun and laughter without the need for sunblock or rain gear.

This guide will point the way to the best indoor activities for kids in Singapore. Take your pick from museums and net playgrounds to snowy slides and wooden toys because it’s all here!

We brought the kids to the ArtScience Museum, thinking we’d just breeze through, but they were hooked the moment their drawings came to life in the digital aquarium. The interactive light installations had them chasing colours and shadows for hours.

They also joined a hands-on workshop where they built their mini-inventions, guided by friendly staff who knew how to engage young minds. Who knew learning about tech and nature could feel like play?

Pro-tip: There’s a gift shop inside full of science-themed souvenirs, too.

The Singapore Discovery Centre was a surprise for us. It was packed with hands-on tech and cool stories that kept the kids asking questions.

They tried everything there, from augmented reality exhibits to a 3D movie that made them feel part of the action. The SAFTI bus tour was an unexpected hit, giving them a peek into military life while cruising through a real training area.

Pro-tip: Try the Sandbox AR experience inside a digital sandbox where movements shape virtual terrain (mountains, rivers, and landscapes) in real time!

Play all day at Kiztopia

The big problem I see with bringing kids to Kiztopia is that they never want to leave. That’s with three hours of running, jumping, and crawling through every obstacle already.

The place has everything from massive ball pits to climbing walls, and every corner is designed to burn energy and spark imagination. The learning corners add a nice educational touch that makes it feel more than just playtime.

Pro-tip: Parents and guardians can take a break at the in-house cafe while the kids pretend to be chefs and firefighters in the play area.

Slip and slide at the Amazonia Indoor Playground

Age suitability: 3 to 12 years old

The first thing the kids spotted at Amazonia was the giant wave slide, and it quickly became the highlight of their day. They raced each other down again and again, they got lost in the multi-level play maze filled with tunnels, nets, and ball pits.

It’s one of those rare spots where toddlers up to pre-teens can all find something exciting to do indoors. After a round of glow-in-the-dark mini golf and some wall games, we adults recharged at the cafe while they went for one last climb.

Pro-tip: Have the kids wear comfy activewear and grip socks for comfort and safety.

Cool down (literally!) at Snow City

Age suitability: 3 years old and above

It’s safe to say snow is hard to come by in Singapore, so Snow City is an instant hit with the kids since it’s their first time experiencing it (albeit indoors). Nobody could stop them from throwing snowballs and building lopsided snowmen there!

They get the rare treat of having sub-zero fun like snow tubing on a slope that feels like a mini ski resort. For days after that wintry experience, they couldn’t stop talking about what a literally cool experience it was.

Pro-tip: Winter gear like jackets and boots is available for rent, so show up as you are.

Role-play at KidZania

Hours: Daily, 10 AM–6 PM

Price: $$

Age suitability: 4 to 14 years old

You know when you ask kids what they want to be when they grow up, and you get a shrug or a bored “I dunno?” That might change if you take them to KidZania, where the kids put on uniforms and jump straight into jobs like firefighters and radio DJs.

Each role-playing activity is surprisingly hands-on and detailed as they work around a mini city. They even learn how to budget their earnings, spend some time at kid-run shops, and generally get to feel how adults live and earn.

Pro-tip: Little firefighters can experience putting a fire out of a “burning building” using real hoses while they ride a real miniature fire truck!

Parents and uncles like me are big kids, too, right? A quick stop at Jewel Changi Airport proved this when we spent the whole afternoon at Canopy Park bouncing on the sky nets and getting lost in the hedge maze.

Honestly, neither the real kids nor I wanted to leave. And for adults who treat retail therapy like an exciting game, the choices and possibilities here are endless, making it the easiest indoor family outing we’ve had in a while.

Pro-tip: Wait for the light show to kick in at the HSBC Rain Vortex for a fun, mesmerising indoor experience that’s also free.

Meet celebrity mascots at Pororo Park Singapore

Age suitability: 1 to 6 years old

My toddler niece couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw Pororo waddle out for a hug at Pororo Park. It was easily the highlight of her young life.

Between the mini train ride and soft play zones, there’s plenty there to keep little ones entertained and safely moving. It helps that the place is clean, well-staffed, and just the right size for younger kids to explore without getting overwhelmed.

Pro-tip: Try the waffles and other fun-to-eat menu items at Loopy’s Cafe, which is near the play area.

Battle it out at NERF Action Xperience

Age suitability: 7 years old and above

NERF Action Xperience was nonstop adrenaline for my 8-year-old nephew, who geared up and dove into foam-blaster battles like it was a video game come to life. The themed zones had obstacle courses, team missions, and challenges for strategizing skills.

But it wasn’t all just running and shooting, as target challenges tested his aim and focus in a fun way. For kids 7 years old and up who love action, this indoor arena is an ideal mix of friendly competition and high-energy play.

Pro-tip: Make sure your kids wear protective goggles properly and keep them on at all times to prevent injuries.

Mix play with culture at T-Play Indoor Playground

Website

Location: HomeTeamNS Khatib, 2 Yishun Walk, Level 1

Tuesday to Thursday, 1–7 PM

Friday, 1–9 PM

Saturday to Sunday, 10 AM–9 PM

Price: $$

Age suitability: 1 to 12 years old

T-Play at Khatib surprised us with its Peranakan-themed design of bright tiles, intricate patterns, and even little heritage touches built into the play structures. The kids had a blast climbing and racing through the tunnels, all while picking up bits of culture without realising it.

It’s fully padded, well organised, and great for both toddlers and older kids to roam safely. With seating nearby, the childminders can relax while keeping an eye on the action.

Pro-tip: There’s a toddler play zone that’s a softer and quieter space for smaller kids aged 1 to 3 years.

Airzone is just like a giant trampoline in the sky, which our pre-teen nieces and nephews couldn’t resist. They can bounce, climb, and roll through ball pits suspended several storeys above ground like they don’t know the concept of gravity.

The net levels make it feel like you’re floating through a futuristic playground with just the right mix of thrill and safety. There are also obstacle zones, giant slides, and even a space to just lie back and bounce gently like a human bean bag!

Pro-tip: Airzone has a weight limit of 120 kg or 265 lbs per participant.

Play with old-fashioned toys at The Joy of Toys

Hours: Daily, 10 AM–8 PM

Age suitability: 6 months to 10 years old

The Joy of Toys was a quiet change of pace with no flashing lights and loud music, just beautifully crafted wooden toys and pretend play sets. They managed to keep the kids focused for hours with a modern take on classic playtime.

It’s clean, bright, well-maintained, and thoughtfully curated by theme. If you’re looking for screen-free indoor fun that sparks creativity, this spot delivers.

Pro-tip: There’s a baby zone for toddlers and an older kids zone with railways in the main play area.
