Your Ultimate Guide to X-perience Everything at X-scap8!

Who needs the weather to cooperate when Singapore’s largest indoor funground has arcade games, obstacle runs, and even golf simulators? It’s chaos, cardio, and catharsis all under one roof at Orchard Central via X-Scap8!

I went there to try one activity and ended up trying everything, from high-element courses to smashing old electronics. Whatever age you may be, there’s one thing here you’ll unexpectedly enjoy.

What is X-Scap8?

X-Scap8 is a Singapore indoor playground packed with legit challenges to beat boredom, like rope courses and rage rooms. It officially opened its doors in August 2022, on the 7th floor of Orchard Central.

It’s a one-stop spot for physical fun, puzzles, and arcade games. It’s conveniently located, making it easy to swing by for shoppers and those who want to kill time entertainingly.

What to See and Do

Challenge yourself on the Infinity & Beyond course

– Media from er_ernest

Location: Right next to the restobar

Age requirement: Kids under 10 must be accompanied by an adult

Weight/height requirement: Under 120 kg and at least 1.2 m tall

Climbing the Infinity & Beyond course was like joining a circus act on steroids, except 10 metres up, strapped into a harness, and wobbling across a suspended skateboard.

The kicker? You’ll have to ride a literal bicycle mid-air with nothing but guts and gravity. It’s three levels of pure leg-shaking adrenaline, but totally safe, thanks to helmets, harnesses, and trained staff.

Channel your inner Ninja Warrior

Location: X-Citing Adventures zone, next to the High-Element course

Age requirement: Kids under 10 must be accompanied by an adult

Weight/height requirement: Under 120 kg and at least 1.2 m tall

The X-Warrior Challenge made me feel like I was on live TV (minus the camera but including the sweat). Between the monkey bars, ball pit, and swinging ladder, my arms checked out before my ego did.

Do note that this is a shoes-off zone, so covered socks are required for hygiene and safety. If you’re sockless, you can buy a new pair on-site.

Try some retro arcade games

– Media from xscap8

Location: X-Citing Adventures Zone, alongside X-Warrior courses

Age requirement: Suitable for all ages

Weight/height requirement: No restrictions

My nephews and I wandered into the Retro Arcade Zone for a quick round, but ended up button-mashing our way through Pac-Man, Street Fighter, and Tetris like it was 1995.

Each game costs S$1 per token, which is dangerously affordable if you’ve got a competitive streak like us.

There are no height, weight, or age requirements here for those who want pure nostalgia in neon lights. It’s a great cool-down zone between the rope courses and rage rooms.

Smash your rage away

– Media from xscap8

Location: Near the High Element and X-Warrior courses

Age requirement: Minimum 18 years old; teens 15 to 17 years must be accompanied by an adult

Weight/height requirement: No restrictions, but protective gear must be worn at all times

Coming off a toxic work week, The Smash Lab offered me something I never thought I would find in an indoor “funground.” There’s something wildly satisfying about smashing an old keyboard with a bat while yelling career-related frustrations into your helmet.

The lab gives you bottles, electronics, even furniture—basically everything except your ex’s stuff. It’s all done in a soundproof room with full safety gear and zero judgment.

Tee off in virtual golf

– Media from xscap8

Location: Balls & Birdies Golf Simulator, near the High-Element zone

Age requirement: Children must be accompanied by an adult

Weight/height requirement: Recommended for right-handed players only

At this zone, I swung like Tiger Woods and missed like Mr. Bean. Still, Balls & Birdies made me feel like a pro even as my nephews sniggered around me (the little imps!).

The virtual golf simulator reads every slice and hook with brutal honesty, but it’s strangely addictive. Each session runs about 45 minutes, which is good for solo swings or small groups of up to four.

Play the floor is lava

– Media from xscap8

Location: X-Citing Adventures, beside High-Elements

Age requirement: Suitable for all ages

Weight/height requirement: No restrictions

With encouragement from the little ones, I channelled my inner kid and jumped from pad to pad like the floor would really burn my socks off. Lava Mayhem turns basic survival instincts into a chaotic cardio session!

There’s no age limit here, so it’s a great family activity. The object is just don’t fall in or you’re toast, and it’s a fast and shrilly thrill once someone yells “Go!”

Take advantage of the flexible entry system

– Media from smusportsfiesta

I loved that I could tap out of the obstacle zone, catch my breath, then dive back in without losing time at X-scap8. It’s fitness on my own terms, not a boot camp with panic-inducing time limits.

The flexible entry system lets you rest, refuel, and rally, all within your session slot. It’s perfect for uncles like me, whose legs give out before the competitive spirit does.

Join the rotating monthly arcade tournaments

– Media from xscap8

I joined the arcade tournament at X-scap8 on a whim (announcements are made on its IG) and somehow made it past round one! I love that my muscle memory from the 90s still works, and the entire experience was intense, nostalgic, and hilariously competitive.

Each month features a new game showdown, so no two battles are the same. Just show up, pay for your tokens, and bring your best button-mashing game face.

Grab a meal at the restobar

– Media from cherylpang_

Location: Eat-Play-Laugh Restobar

Price: $$

Must-try: Ai Funghi pasta

After climbing ropes and dodging imaginary lava, the kids and I made a beeline for the restobar where the carbs never tasted so victorious. The Al Funghi pasta was light but filling, and the La Zi Ji chicken had the boys fighting over the last piece.

The view’s not bad, either. Orchard Road is buzzing below your seat, giving you a chill reset in case you want to go for round two at X-scap8’s courses.

Buy some merch and souvenirs inside

– Media from colourmemats

Location: Inside X-scap8 (ask staff for merch display)

Must-buy: Dalgona candy kits

I wasn’t planning on buying anything, especially after blowing a significant chunk of our budget on arcade tokens. But upon spotting the Squid Game-style T-shirts, we couldn’t resist purchasing them.

The merch also includes plush keychains, candy kits, and even branded plates. They make quirky keepsakes that remind you of how you survived all the obstacles inside.
